He was an outstanding college player who looked like a very good pro prospect. That game you are talking about with his playing injured did, in fact, enhance his image as a tough team player, but wasn't the sole reason he was drafted. Kind of ignorant to say that a team would use a first round pick out of sympathy. I actually think Leftwich would be a good pickup for the Jets next year. But Byron Leftwich is a total ZERO. He got into the NFL based on sympathy for that stupid game where his OL had to carry him because of a bum ankle (thats still bum, by the way). So he waltzes onto the roster of Jack Del Rio (who also sux), steals the QB job from Garrard, and proceeds to beat the jets in humiliating shut outs twice.(pennington tore his shoulder in one of those losses because Paul Spicer didnt know the whistle blowing meant that the play was over). then leftwich got cut. happy days in atlanta! now he, by chance, lands on a championship team.
