One former Cardinal, a Hall of Famer, wore No. 13 for different reasons. His full name, Donald Maynard, has 13 letters, and M is the 13th letter of the alphabet.
Maynard also considered the birthdays of his father, July 13; his sister, Aug. 13; and his wife, Sept. 13; and his wedding anniversary, Dec. 13. Growing up, Maynard attended 13 schools.
