Roster News: Jets Sign CB

The Jets have apparently added another guy to the mix for their defensive backfield by signing former Chiefs cornerback Tyron Brackenridge to a two year contract. He is due to earn $385K in 2009.

Brackenridge was cut on the eve of the season in 2008, having played in 13 games, starting one, for the Chiefs in 2007. However, he did play in week 9 against the Bucs, recording 6 tackles and a forced fumble.

The former Washington State alum has decent size, but ran just 4.67 in his forty at the combine (although he ran 4.55 at his pro day). He is probably most famous for punching Brandon Marshall in 2007.

Realistically, Brackenridge is likely to be camp fodder, since he couldn’t even make the Chiefs roster (although to be fair, they arguably had more depth in their secondary than the Jets last year).
