The First 100 Days: Day 15

by Bent on February 5th, 2009 at 9:10 am

Just like another administration’s first 100 days, so too TJB will be keeping watch over the Rex Ryan administration for the first 100 days … playing it by the numbers if you will. Each day, we’ll try to keep the associated day number in play.

Day Fifteen

Number 15 currently belongs to special teams demon Wallace Wright. Every year the question is raised: can the Jets afford to let Wright go for another guy that will also produce as a receiver and not just a special teamer? However, I prefer to consider Wright as ST1 not WR6 and therefore don’t envisage him having the uphill battle to make the team that some of you do. He is a restricted free agent though.

Number 15 has also been worn by Babe Parilli, who would have been the backup plan if Namath had gone down injured in the Superbowl III campaign and Kyle Mackey…now where does he rank among QBs to have started for the Jets? Who is below him? David Norrie?

The last time the Jets won was in week 15, as Shaun Ellis’ thrilling fumble return cruelly kept Jets fans’ divisional hopes alive for another week.

And finally, a salute to Thomas Jones, whose 15 TDs this season were tremendous (although his 17 TDs over the last two seasons is only “adequate”). Over or under 10.5 TDs next year?

Add your “fifteens” in the comments …

1-15 in 1996 led by the worst coach in NFL history Rich Kotite. I went to all 8 home games.

15 years since another “worst” collapse in team history nominee in ’94 after @#%* Dan Marino’s fake spike TD. Nope, I’m still not over it.
