News: David Carr Re-signed

by Bassett on February 9th, 2009 at 3:45 pm

I know that there were some of you who stumped for David Carr to compete for the Jets job this offseason and it seems that this will not happen. David Carr has found a place in the league that he enjoys, not getting concussed repeatedly as a backup for the Giants.

According to his agent via the Daily News’ Ralph Vacchiano, Carr re-signed with the Giants “very recently.”

I think its becoming very clear that we’re going forward with KFC (Kellen F’n Clemens) as our starter for the 2009 season.

  2. $1 million for a backup role. I don’t blame him for resigning. You can make a nice living as a backup and not have to worry about getting your face smashed in.

does anyone have any thoughts on the jets making a run for jeff garcia? i know he’s as old as favre but he’s a hell of a lot more reliable (in terms of turnovers), he can still move and he would be way cheaper than favre. not sure if this topic has been broched before on this site but i’d like to get people’s thoughts.

i dont want any part of favre, collins or garcia.
1 veteran QB that intrigues me is bulger.

well there goes the ’09 season!

QB’s that wear gloves make it to the Superbowl, see Big Ben and Warner. Our only hope was Carr.

Thats why I want Jay Feely taking snaps next season!
and Ronnie- Bulger? are you serious… The next Testaverde?

    Bart Scott-LB- Ravens Feb. 9 – 5:27 pm et

Jets beat writer Dave Hutchinson calls Bart Scott a more likely target for New York in free agency than Ray Lewis.

Scott isn’t the leader Lewis is, but he is a superior blitzer and five years younger. The Jets are needy at the inside linebacker spot next to David Harris, where free agent Eric Barton is unlikely to be retained.

    Jim Leonhard-DB- Ravens Feb. 9 – 5:24 pm et

Jets beat writer Dave Hutchinson believes that the team will make a “strong bid” to acquire free agent Jim Leonhard.

Leonhard knows new coach Rex Ryan’s scheme from their Baltimore days, and the Jets have long been searching for a starting safety to pair with Kerry Rhodes. His addition would likely allow Rhodes to move to strong safety.

    Bulger…11 TD-13 interceptions in 08, 11-15 in 07. $8.5 million…I’ll go with KC or the Rat.

I make no secret of the fact that I don’t rate Carr at all. I dread to think what would happen to the Giants if Eli went down for more than a game or two.

    Good. He’s awful.
