Kellen showed alot of competence in that Baltimore game(think Rex forgot?...me either) AND he did it behind a GARBAGE offensive line. If everyone says he looked skittish in the pocket, thats because he was RUNNING for HIS LIFE all the time.

Clemens sounds like he gets it and knows how to prepare after working with Pennington and Favre. Remember, his body of work that everyone is judging him againt, only consists of a half season's worth of games behind a horrific offensive line during a dismal year. He is now in the system for three years, has a good O-line in front of him and a solid running attack, with a respectable defense to help keep the score within reason game in and game out. I'm all for giving him and Ratliff a shot in camp.

Kellen Clemens is not an NFL QB regardless or what any of you say. i have never seen a more nervous and flustered qb in the pocket in my lifetime. Although he might be the best qb on the roster right now. Sanchez would be dumb at 17 hes not a first rd qb, more like an early second or real late first. D. Anderson might not be a bad choice especially if it will only take a 3rd rounder to get him. Hes got an absolute cannon for an arm. Although if the jets dont get help at reciever that wouldnt even matter

are-tee, everyone brings up Eli, who was the no. 1 pick in the draft. The Giants had to continue letting him play. But, Eli also showed flashes of competence, like the Pittsburgh game. If KC were 6-4, with a bloodline like Eli and the Jets made a significant financial commitment, I'd say then spend whatever it takes to make KC a bona fide QB. Hasselbeck was better...was he the WORST? And, I could go on, too. Ryan Leaf (39), Akili Smith (55.6), Alex Smith (40.8), Joey Harrington (59.9), Cade McNown (66.7), Heath Shuler (59.6), J.P. Losman (64.9).

Also, it's really a myth that 1st year starters who are good QBs struggle like KC did. You'll find that most end up with QB ratings that were okay, like over 70...many are over 80, and some even over 90. Plus, KC was a second-year QB, not a rookie. So, comparing him to Eli, who was a rookie, isn't really fair. How many 2nd year in the NFL and first time starters sucked like KC? The only one that I found was J.P. Losman (64.9)...is that who we want as a model for our franchise QB. Even Brees (to whom KC is often compared) had a decent 1st year as a starter (his second year as a pro)(76.9), he just regressed his third year and broke out his 4th year.

But, my criticism goes way beyond stats. He was an incompetent QB. 5 tds to 10 INTs, skittish in the pocket, too willing to rabbit, etc. He was just terrible out there. And, blaming the OL is an excuse...one that many 1st year starters have, too. Favre, like KC, was a second rounder and took over a 4-12 team in his second year as a pro...all he did was make the Pro Bowl with an 85.3 rating. I'm tired of excuses, I want results.

Hey Frank, Derek Anderson would not have us on the hook for any of the guaranteed money, that would all hit the Browns cap, if he sucked after one year we could cut him and owe him nothing.

SackDance,

Eli Manning had worse numbers (55.4 passer rating) than KC in his first year. I don't think he's great, but he did win a Super Bowl. Matt Hasselbeck had a 70.9 rating in his first year as a starter. I could go on...
