The First 100 Days: Day 21

Just like another administration’s first 100 days, so too TJB will be keeping watch over the Rex Ryan administration for the first 100 days … playing it by the numbers if you will. Each day, we’ll try to keep the associated day number in play.

Day Twenty One

The number 21 jersey is currently available (hey, maybe Nnamdi Asomugha will accept a cut price contract if we promise he can have it?). In recent years it has been worn by several defensive backs of varying abilities, including Kirk Springs, Don Boyd Odegard, Aaron Beasley, Andre Dyson, Derrick Strait and Victor “207 unofficial tackles in one year” Green (pictured). The highest profile non-DB to have worn the 21 jersey is probably Clark Gaines.

21 also represents the amount of guaranteed money Gholston, Pace and Faneca were given during last year’s spending spree.

Finally, it’s the number of points by which the Jets defeated the NFC Champions in Week 4, destroying the famed “Bassett Curse”. Who will ever forget the playmaking potential demonstrated by the defense in that 34-0 second quarter? Or the six TDs thrown by some guy whose name escapes me?

Add your “twenty ones” in the comments …

  1. Victor Green was a personal fav of mine. I just thought he bled green and white while he played for us. Plus I played saftey so I always loved who ever played that position for us…..Erik Mcmillan, B Washington, V Green, and now K Rhodes.

  2. justin miller wore #21 for a time…
