Please, no more talk of going and getting kerry collins or kurt warner. I cant describe how stupid i think those ideas are. Why do so many people think that either of these players is a good idea? DID WE LEARN NOTHING FROM LAST YEAR??? We would get them for one year and then be right back in the same situation. Its time to give kellen his chance. Let the QBs we already have on our roster compete for the starting job. I want a young quarterback who is (hopefully) going to play for us for quite sometime…a franchise quarterback. No more shopping around for veteran qbs. Lets use our cap space to focus on our defense, thats what really needs to be adressed.

After reading all of those articles, including the (hopefully) delusional nightmare scenario of pursuing Michael Vick. I’m all for second chances, but not with the Jets. I’m NIMBY on Vick. (Not in my back yard.)
The article that impressed me the most was Steve Politi’s article from the NJ Star Ledger. (And no, not just because he’s my namesake.) I couldn’t agree with him more. Both Clemens and Ratliff have some promise. They both also have some experience in the system. Let them both have equal opportunities to battle it out, and then let’s give the winner a fair chance to succeed.
With Rex in town, we all know that the focus will be on the defense now. So I suggest that we use that 17th pick in the draft and our remaining salary cap money to fill other needs.
I say we should give those two young guys one year. There’s a good chance that we can still succeed even if neither of them are world-beaters. In the worst case scenario, we can rely on our defense and our running game and then find another QB next year. But, there’s also a chance that at least one of those guys could develop into a really good QB, possibly even as good as Cassel or even as good as Brady! Who knows? The point is we won’t know if we never give them a chance.

I honestly do not see any real value out there for any of the QBs being discussed. And you can count me in the list of those who want no part of Vick on the Jets.
I believe he has paid his debt to society and needs a second chance, but New York is not the right place for Vick to make his return. He needs to be in a city where the bright lights are dimmer. A place where there is an upside to his presence, like maybe Detroit or Kansas City.
Warner would be a repeat of Favre. I would consider Collins, Boller or Leftwich, but in an open competition with KC and Ratliff. Boller and Leftwich need to prove to me that they can lead a team and I do not think they are the long term answer. I view Anderson as a one year wonder and I think it would be a disaster to bring him in.
I’d like to see KC with the revamped line before I make a judgment about him.

I’m not condemning Michael Vick, nor am I saying to go get him, but I am saying the world has to get over what he did and move on. Plenty of athletes, like all other human beings make mistakes. When and if he does try to come back to play, the football world should forgive him and move on.
