Two points. 1) Chad has played in less than half of all the games since he was drafted by Parcells. Take a look at his winning % and QB rating in the few games when he played healthy. And I’m not counting this year with the Dolphins or 2007 when he had torn ligaments in his planting ankle, considered a severely painfull injury. Pennington has gotten a really bad rap by most Jet fans. I know they will discount this year, but I think unlike you know who, he will have plenty of time to prove all bashers wrong.

The second answer is simple:
Did you know that Farve had this “Injury” BEFORE he signed with the Jets. What a dirtbag hu?
He put his personal record before the team goals.

2) The second answer is simple

I think the fundamental problem I have with what you guys are saying, is that it seems that you are drawing on a rosier JETS’ history to compare Favre’s tenure to.

They made some very important personnel upgrades, but a 5-win differential is nonetheless quite significant in the NFL.

Anyway, I think you guys ignore the fact that the JETS were having “same old JETS” games when Chad was on the team (e.g., Seahawks, Oakland, almost losing to KC, etc.). They most definitely would have those games if Clemens was under center.

Finally, Favre needs to get as much leeway for being injured as Chad always got; Hank – I know Chad always got a lot of leeway in your book for injuries (“oh, well he was getting off an injury, so 1/3 of his career stats don’t count”).

1-We were 4-2 in the division. 3-0 on the road, 1-2 at home. Can we improve on this next year? Brady will be back, Miami looks tough, Buffalo should be better.
2-We went 0-4 on the west coast to inferior talent. Was it the trip, coaching/game plan/calls (my vote) or did we just get out played?
3-Did upgrading (??) QB 10 minutes before the season started help us or hurt us when the entire play book had to be modified for #4?
4-Can we point to a single game where the defense dominated an won a game for us? If not why? And what are our expectations this year based on coaching changes alone?
5-We go up against some talented teams like the Indy and NC but we also get Oakland, Texas, Cincy and who knows how good TB will be??
6-As for the Favre factor, yes he was key in games like AZ, NE, TN but those games were won by the entire O/D and special teams. So if you give him credit for those games you have to give us an upside when we lose hopefully 50% of his interceptions.

So when I look 8 months out I say everyone’s 8-8 (except for the true elite) and will get pluses and minuses for the Draft, FA signings, Coaching changes and most of that’s in front of us. Key for 2009, win your division games, win the games you should, steal a game from a superior team and you’re in the playoffs.

Did we take a shot last year? Yes, but not because it’s the same old Jets.

This will prove to all the Farve frontrunners/Schotty bashers that signing Farve/Throwing Pennington under the bus was a disgrace !!!

It is absurd. But know what? …revisionists will say Farve lost at most one, they have to acount for at least some of his game changing, momentum killing, mind blowing int’s, and say the loser Jets won all 9 games because of him.

Bassett – statistically, the schedule might be harder, but one west coast trip rather than four gives the Jets three less certain-loss-regardless-of-who-the-opponent-is games.
