the problem with gracia is, he has such a low ceiling.
He is just like chad. Hell win for you early, but as the competion gets tougher, his arm just cant get it done.
If anything, let the young guys duke it out. and if Garcia has to, he can be a spot- starter in a few games and maybe pull some wins out of his butt like he always does.

Garcia would probably be the best option for the Jets for this upcoming season, but if we learned anything from the Favre fiasco, we should know that signing an aging veteran QB for 1 season is not the answer. Going after a younger veteran such as Leftwich or trading for Derek Anderson would make much more sense.

Garcia is not the answer. Too old, not enough arm strength, and wrong system. I would much rather have Leftwich.

Experts are leaving Ainge out of the equation because he hasnt shown ANYTHING. Ratlff has some buzz because he had a strong preseason, Clemens was a highly touted QB out of college with some starting experience, but Ainge is the biggest question mark of the 3, and to be honest he looked pretty bad when he was given his chances.

Rex Ryan clearly stated that he is excited and ready to go with a rookie QB. He also said that the job is wide open and will be competed by ALL THREE QB's. Why is every "expert" leaving Ainge out of the equation? He has great measurables, great pocket presense, reads defenses very well, can make all the throws and is healthy for the first time in two maybe three years !!

ALL THREE WILL START ON EQUAL FOOTING FACING A NEW DEFENSE WITH REX.

It's time to let our guys show if they can be PART of the solution and stop geeting washed up QB's to back-up the back-us back-up, it's a losers mmentality.

As I've said over and over, Garcia's probably the 3rd best pure West Coast QB of all time. The Jets don't run the West Coast, so why bring in an undersized 39-year old QB with declining mobility and arm strength?

Can I nullify a kewpie? QB is still the most important position in pro sports and the Jets still don't have a bona fide NFL QB on the roster. I just don't share anyone's enthusiasm about KC and I'm concerned that relying upon Ratliff and Ainge leaves the Jets on the high wire without a net. Bringing in Leftwich would calm me down and make that PSL check a lot easier to sign.

Can we give Harlan a kewpie? I think he's dead on. A lot of this "Who will be the QB?" stuff is just the media guys trying to stir up something when there's really nothing to stir up at this time of the year.

I would hope the new coaching staff would like to get a good long look at what's in house before they start bringing in new starters, especially when I don't think either KC or Ratty have gotten enough of an opportunity to fully show what they can do.

I will sound like a broken record. We need to not worry about the qB position.

If a Garcia wants to sign cheap with us now (which would be stupid for him from a money perspective -- but perhaps wise if he knows that Kellen and Brett s_ck) then go ahead. However, we all know that any Vet who signs at this time of the year is going to command too much salary to be just an insurance policy.

The only smart play is to wait through FA and the draft and strengthen the team at other positions.

Then, when we know how much cash is left, look around and sign the best available vet QB at a bargain just in case the young-uns are as bad as Nagel and Woodall.

Whoever starts at QB will perform better if the defensive holes (S, CB, ILB, and perhaps DE) are patched. He will also do better with a tall fast WR who can get separation. And, he will perform better behind a solid OL (it is possible that the money owed to Moore translates into cutting him and signing a RT and moving Woody inside).

There is no vet QB so outstanding that I would go after him now rather than filling the holes. Something about a cart and a horse.
