Audible: Marvin Harrison as a Jet?
Posted on February 19th, 2009 by Bassett
Coming up against a large salary cap number, if the Colts were to part with WR Marvin Harrison as is rumored, should the Jets be a suitor? What do you think?

hell no
Enough with the retreads please. Is Art Monk available?
He’s an old possession receiver at this point, and he may end up suspended or in jail. No thanks.
hell naw… at this age… Stuckey >> Marvin… and it’s good to c Clowney will get his shot next year
There’s a lot of money in the retirement home business…
We need a receiver with size & speed, 6′3″ and above. Harrison is expensive and we have more pressing needs in free agency (QB?)
Id take Harrison over LC (im disregarding all monetery implications, etc.)
This would be worse than Favre… give clowney and stuckey a shot and look at housh in the FA market…. GET A QB
I’d hope they stay away from Harrison. Not because I don’t think he’s still got game, cause he does.
I don’t think he’d be a good choice because they have more pressing needs and…I don’t think they’re going to be a pass-first offense out of the gate if the QB is going to end up being KC or Ratliff. If that is the case and the Jets are going to play a run-first offense and simply ask their QB not to lose the game for them, then an over priced WR doesn’t make sense.
Ever time there is a rumor of an over the hill has been leaving a team, it end up on here….HELL NO, its time to DEVELOP some players with solid coaching. THATS WHAT A WINNING TEAM IS!!!!
i second everything jonk said
This is now becoming ridiulous!!!!
ye olde burner
hmmm, possession receiver on the decline with no real breakaway speed… I’ll pass
No thanks.
Pass. Unless its vet min, which it won’t be.
Marvin “Pistol-whip, Cap-yer-Ass’ Harrison? NO WAY. I don’t want any more of these gridiron legends fetching up with the Jets to pasture out a few more seasons and pad the retirement account. Harrison brings nothing to the Jets. And costs an arm and a leg. He’s also on the most likely to suspend list. Silent Marv wants to run small businesses in his Philly hood? Go to Philly , Marvin. The man is psychotic.
the people have spoken!
Glad to see that folks are looking to the future and developing internal or cheaper talent … as opposed to the
“bring [x big name player] into new york” mindset
and that it’s not predominant among readers. Yay!
I like the WR’s we have. Sure we could use a big threat but I feel pretty confident with our run game.
What we need to do is treat Dustin Keller like our #1 reciever and that should level out our passing game.
I love the young receivers will have on the team! Can you finally give our young stars a chance !!
bassett, aka drew is right. enough with these posts about over the hill free agents who we don’t need. it tarnishes your otherwise great work.
hahahaa
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. i wont even take him in fantasy let alone have him on our Jets.
Yeah lets sign Harrison, and then maybe we can get Cris Carter to ocme out of retirement. And then we should sign Shaun Alexander to split carries with TJ. And then I think we should sign Jeff george to compete with KC for the starting job, and then we should see if Bill romanowski can play ILB next to DHarris….
I would like to see TJ Whos your mama in Green and white if it is financially possible, or if we can somehow trade Coles to the Bengals and give them an additonal 2nd or 3rd rounder. But besides that,I’ll stick with the young guys we have. No more washed up oldmen, thank you.
JesusRevis,
Perfect LOL.
JesusRevis – just add PSLs and go…. :-)
I agree with the whole young talent issue and I think in the end the Jets can be very successful with these guys, but is anyone else SICK of rebuilding year after year…. when the hell are the Jets going to be the team to beat its getting old!!
Vinny in NJ – Once we get a QB!
yea but everyone wants to draft a new qb so that is easily 3 to 4 years… I just have had season tickets for 20 years and im so tired of hearing rebuilding rebuilding… we spent enough money on talent its absurd that we cant have a decent QB since Vinny T in his prime
N-O, no.
I think Chad Pennington would fit the criteria for being “decent”, at least.
NO!!!!!!!!
Hm… let’s see- a rebuilding team with a poor QB situation, matched with an old WR who has played with a good QB pretty much his whole career, who may go to jail.
Sign ME UP!
Doubt he be used to all the balls sailing over his head.
This is not worth writing about, lots of better Wr’s on the market as well as alot of good talent in the draft.
