Rumors: WR Shuffling

by Bent on February 19th, 2009 at 6:15 am

Hutch reports that:

  • The Jets are interested in ex-Pat wideout and punt return gunner Kelley Washington
  • They have made it a priority to evaluate exactly what they have in David Clowney; and
  • Speculates that Brad Smith could join Eric Mangini in Cleveland, with Washington to take his special teams role.
  • I wonder if there will be as big a furore over the fact that Leon Washington’s replica jerseys will now be out of date because they won’t say “L. WASHINGTON” on the back as there was when the Jets signed Ty Law and everyone thought he would pinch Revis’ 24…

Bent – Why wouldnt Leons jersey say L WASHINGTON??

    2. avatar Bassett says:

i think the only reason that there was confusion on Law’s #24 was because he said it was his number … didn’t he?

I don’t think they do the first initial thing any more on jerseys … think about it, the Jets have multiple Colemans (Drew and Kenyon) and neither of them have the first initial on the jersey …

Leon’s always had L WASHINGTON on his jersey i dont see why they would change that now

Awsome. Who cares. We need a number 1 wr. We have two very good #2′s starting. If we can get our hands on some disgruntled WR thats got the size & speed lets talk about that, not Kelley Washington.

      Ocho cinco.

    6. Confused on why we want K Washington?? Dont we have a younger better version named W Wright??

More importantly, I would not mind seeing Brad Smith leave and Clowney/Stuckey receiving more playing time, because they are actual receivers and are better at it as well.

There was never any threat of Ty Law taking #24 from Revis. Mediocre veterans dont take numbers from young elite players
