Some good friends of mine started a sports blog about all things Baltimore called RightOffRussell.  With the new connection between the Jets and Baltimore, I asked my friend Jeff Pilson, to give us Jets fans a taste of what potential free agent target ILB Bart Scott is all about.

Jeff wrote an in-depth post about Bart Scott that’s definitely worth a read and even mentions Voltron, so please check it out.

(Seriously, say hi to the gang at RightOffRussell and be sure to tell your Baltimore friends about it)

I love hearing about LB’s with attitudes like his.

Yea i was very impressed with his interview on Sirius with Tim and Pat … Looks like well definatly be getting either him or R Lewis….

Btw, Bassett you should e-mail that d-bag Mike Lombardi and find out how far over the cap we are now lol, because hes “not making this up you cant spend money like the jets did”..

  3. The Jets – B Scott matchup is almost too good to be true. He will bring the Raven attitude that this defense is clearly lacking. He can smother the run or rush the passer. Plus who dosent like a LB that hates the other team?? God we need that here!!!

More importantly, “Let’s go Voltron Force!”

Jeff Pilson was the bassist for Dokken. Cool. :)

The questions is will Ray Ray actually want to be a Jet when we don’t have any Quarterback!!! He is close to the end of his career and he is going to want to be on a contending team to finish it out so the possibilities of Ray look slim.

I do not see the Jets signing Lewis, 34 years old, maybe a couple of years left. Bart Scott however, 28 years old, in his prime and is the leader the Jets will need on defense, setting a tone and leading by example and he may come cheaper than Lewis as well.

Any ideas on Bart’s price tag….guestimations? Can we also afford Leonhard?

The more and more I look at it, the less I like Ray. As much as he is a leader, he’s getting up there in age. Scott was always in the shadow of Suggs and Lewis. And you gotta love the ability to go run and pass. Sign him up Rex!

If we get Lewis. I feel it will be for the same reason we got Favre and I will be throwing rotten tomatoes at the training compound. I have personally never liked Lewis, that whole murder thing, but respect his abilities. I feel he is too old to give as much money as he will demand. If we get Scott and he is our only FA move, I believe we have made a smart signing and are headed in the right direction.

Speaking as a child of the 80′s, love the Voltron reference, great picture Bassett! But besides that, this guy has great leadership qualities and is not only a playmaker, but a leader in the huddle. Plus, got to love the fact that this guy actually hates his opponents. We need someone like that to fire this team up!

I’m a big fan of signing Scott. He’s got the attitude our defense has lacked the last few years.

I coached this kid in highschool and he had the greatest attitude i have ever seen. He is a hardworker and loves the game of football. Yoo guys (Jets) could surely use him up there.
