lgs,

Heyward-Bey was dominant in college? Really? You must be thinking of somebody else. 42 receptions and 600 yards is dominant? He only had 1 game over 100 yards. Maybe it was the whopping 5 TDs that has you mesmerized.

I gotta admit that I've fallen in love with Hakeem Nicks. I was hoping he might be around in round 2 but its looking like he won't. What other traditional WR was as productive playing in a running offense? At 17, I wouldn't take Sanchez. Aside from Stafford, this is a weak QB class and in basically any other year maybe none of the other QBs would be getting first round grades. Flacco went in the first because he impressed in workouts and had a fine college career at Delaware where he started quite a few games. Sanchez has not impressed as of yet in workouts and had only one productive year in college.

At 17, the options have to be a CB (Vontae Davis looks like the option right now), Maulauga/Laurinaitis, Moreno/Wells, or a WR (maybe Nicks is moving up into this range considering his college productivity and impressive 40 time). I would not go QB, both Freeman and Sanchez would be hard pressed to be as good as Clemens over the next two years. Why not wait for the solid class of 2010 QBs?

All this talk about drafting the right guy in the first round doesnt really matter, it never matters with the jets, the last first round pick that made a major impact that helped the team was our 3 pick in the first round back in 1965.
Face it this is the jets we havent won a superbowl in 40 years and itll probably be more 40 years till we win another one, anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

with the jets its the same thing over and over again, they find a way to take our money, piss us off and make us miserable. each year the same thing in a new way.

As to Sanchez, McShay thought he had a good workout. SI's Banks says mixed. If the FO and CS think he could be the franchise QB, I say get him if he falls or even go up a bit to get him.

While I am prepared to go into battle with our existing guys, that still doesnt substitute for having visibility to a true franchise QB.

I would love for Crabtree to drop, but it's not realistic. Maclin may not even fall to 17. I would wait till round 2 to get a WR. Heyward-Bay is too much of a risk in my opinion. He is too much of a trackster instead of a WR. Remember Johnny "Lam" Jones? Obviously this isn't a 2nd overall pick, but it is still round 1 and I would hate to draft Bey and him turn into a bust.

When you don't win, I'm sure that there's plenty of blame to go around. I think Mr T is doing alright compared to the rest of the league. He has room to improve like every other GM. I did like when he traded up to get Harris, Revis and Keller. I think those guys have quality above most of that years crop and is betetr than drafting more marginal players. I hope he continues to draft those impact players and supplement through free agency.

lgs, thanks for finally giving some explanation for your opinions. I hope you do realize though that Terry Bradway was never very popular among Jet fans, and most of us agree with you about him. Also, Mangini is to blame for a few things you mentioned, but I guess since Tannenbaum hired him it is essentially his fault. I still have no idea why you keep harping on the fact that the Jets didnt draft a WR last year, considering it was a weak WR draft, and they chose to draft Keller instead. I dont know who all these "aging" tight ends are that youre referring to, other then Franks I cant think of another one. I know Keller will prove you wrong, and I hope youre still posting on this site when he does.

I'm sorry lgs, you made some lame points on your dislike for tanni, maybe 1 or 2 decent ones in the possibilty of cutting more and the whole kendall fiasco but other than that.....c'mon fam. At the end of the day your definately enititled to your opinion, but he's still revered as one of the better gm's in the game today after just 3 years....I'm just sayin
