NFP has reported that the Jets have indeed signed Bart Scott. Contract info was not made available as of yet.
Bart Scott has just finalized a multi-year contract with the New York Jets, sources close to the situation have just informed the National Football Post.
Again to get a sense of who he is, look at a profile on Scott our friends did at RightOffRussell.com.
It probably took the $8 million per year to do it. I don’t expect Bart Scott to see all the money from this contract, but if he can contribute to this team for 3 or more years, it will be a worthwhile investment for the Jets to re-make their front seven into one of the most deadly in the league.
10 Gallon Hat tip to JDB for sending this on ..
UPDATE: Mort just confirmed on ESPN’s Mike & Mike that Scott is “very very close but the deal isnt finalized.”
UPDATE 2: NFL Network reports a $40 million 5 year deal. $8 million per year … I called it!

YES SIR!! I knew yesterday he was holding out for us if he was going to sign with the ravens it would have happend last week.
Scott, DH and Big Jinx, no one is running up the middle of our D
-
That was fast. Sounds like the Jets might have been in discussions before midnight last night.
-
I KNEW HE WOULD SIGN. HARRIS AND SCOTT ARE GONNA BE NASTY ON THE INSIDE
-
hey lg any problems w/ the gm on this one
-
Awesome! I heard from ESPN that it is $8mm a year
-
Mort just said on Mike and Mike that the Jets are “really close” to a deal with Scott, though nothing is done yet…
-
Year 2 of Jenks in the middle combined with Scott and Harris maning the inside…..I think I just messed my pants.
Its all coming together boys!!!
-
If Gholston can actually develop into a good player this year, we will have THE Killer defense this year!!!
-
Excellent! I have to admit when Electric Ham was so emphatic yesterday that Scott will be a Jet I just didn’t see it. Good call by EH!!
Now let’s go get Kemoeatu for our O-line and it will be a great day.
-
Thanks Doug,
It looks like it will be a great day and I dont think anyone will be crying about the brandon moore issue now that we got B Scott, it was def worth it if thats what we had to do to get him. Well find another guard we got plenty of time.

*victory dance*
I can’t wait to watch our defense this year
-
I do not have any faith whatsoever in Gholston… I hope I get proved wrong, but he hasn’t made a tackle worthwhile besides on Special Teams
-
Ha the website crashed. awesome signing though/
-
LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE GONNA TRY AND MAKE LEWIS AN OFFER TOO
-
we have the LB and the G. All we need now is Jim Leonhard.
Go Tannenbaum. -
Rick, where did you see that?
BCP, did you see something about Kemoeatu close to signing?
-
I can see it now…If we sign baby Kemo to play RG you wont hear one fan say……I dont understand why we cut Moore??
Rex and Mr T have a plan and I am going to follow them…jump on board
-
Does anybody feel that Mike T. is on the phone with the Panthers about JP. Then we can let Gholston take his time to develop or using him as trade bait.
-
In Rex we trust.

Another source confirming the Scott signing and possible us getting CB Ivy too…
-
All of a sudden TE’s will be covered…. Great move…What is interesting is that it appears the Ravens offer was close… Tanny may get some credit here, the devil is in the details, about making the terms more player friendly.
Then there is the Rex and Pettin factor. Bart may also like to be out of the shadow of Ray, in the prime of his career he takes a leadership role on a team headed for the Super Bowl -
To quote Leo Getz from Lethal Weapon.
BEAUUUUUTTIIIIIIIIFULLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
