Jets Interested In Kevin Jones?

For those of you that weren’t up at 6:32 Friday morning hopelessly refreshing ProFootballTalk’s rumor board, comes news that the Jets are among a handful of teams interested in former Lions RB Kevin Jones.

Former Detroit Lions first-round running back Kevin Jones has been targeted as a free agent worthy of consideration by several teams, according to a league source.

Jones is on the radar of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rex Ryan has stated more than once that the Jets will be committed to the run this year. Perhaps they see Jones as a third back behind Jones and Washington. What do you guys think his role will be?

  1. Herron got cut, so theres room. Gives you great depth at RB, eliminates a draft need. Is Kevin , Thomas’s little brother ?

  2. Please I hope not. Kevin Jones is beyond horrible.

  3. No, that’s Julius Jones.

  4. why not get him?? Is he that bad??

  5. who cares. He is going to be Jesse Chatman. But he cant return kickoffs. Eh.

  6. Kevin Jones is actually filthy…………..when healthy.

Probably is that he can never stay healthy. He was Detroit’s feature back a few years back, in 04 I believe, and he is a 3 down guy, but we have our 1st and 2nd down guy in TJ and our 3rd down back is Neon Leon, so why sign KJ?

  7. DEPTH

  8. I don’t want anyone with the smell of the “Detroit Death Stench” from the 08 season on them!

    NOT A GOOD MOVE!!!!!!!

  9. Not a bad move cause he will be healthy if he’s only playing a few downs a series. Just don’t pay him too much…

  10. Jason, horrible? thats an ill-advised comment. Kevin Jones would probably be the best #3 back in the NFL. It would be a good move for the Jets if it came at the right price.

  11. Jones didnt play for the Lions in 08 genius – he played in chicago – so he has to stench on him. Know football before you talk

  12. Kevin Jones is NOT what I would describe as horrible…just unlucky. 1st thing working against him is that he ended up in Detroit. The second thing working against him is that he’s been injured….a lot. But he’s a former 1st round pick, he’s extremely talented, he’s got great size and speed (6′, 228 lbs), and he has averaged a solid 4 ypc over his career. He’s also an excellent receiver out of the backfield. When healthy he’s a very good running back. Given the fact that he’s a former 1st rounder that the Jets can pick up for nothing, there’s no risk and the potential for great reward signing him to a veteran minimum deal with incentives. I think he would be a great pickup.

  13. I wouldn’t mind this move. A 3rd back is something the Jets could use, especially in the type of game Rex is gonna play.

  14. I want Brown from Uconn

  15. YES SER BROWN FROM UCONN
