Chris Kemoeatu, a player who many thought was a foregone conclusion to go to the Jets, got the money he was looking for from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Trib reports that the Steelers
re-signed starting left guard Chris Kemoeatu to a five-year, $20-million contract today, a day after the team released veteran guard Kendall Simmons.
Kemoeatu, 26, started all 16 games as the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII. He was the team’s sixth-round draft pick in 2005
Part of the Steelers willingness to pay justifies what the Jets were offering, and part shows their desire to keep their line intact. Well … those dreams of a punishing line didn’t last long. The team will have to re-set their priorities and find the next guy.
Thanks to Eric D. for sending this on.

Is brandon moore available?

Lucky break for the jets.
Just posted this from a steeler blog before he was signed
OG Chris Kemoeatu – Good riddance. I expect some desperate team with too much cap room and too little brains to take a flier on him. He’s all potential. Kemo has the size and strength which would lead you to believe he’ll be a monster but he never plays up to his expectations. Some team will look at the potential and think they can coach it out of him. Better them than us. Along with Colon, one of our two worst performers on the line who won’t be missed. Especially if the Steelers can bring in a quality veteran

Laveranues Coles-WR- Jets Feb. 27 – 2:00 pm et
The Bills are hosting free agent Laveranues Coles on Friday.
Buffalo’s search for a No. 2 wideout to steer attention away from Lee Evans has been halfhearted to this point. Signing Coles would make a statement. Coles is thought to be in search of a three- to four-year deal. He’s probably asking for $7-8M annually, but could come down some. In Buffalo he’d play flanker, a position he’s more cut out for at this stage of his career. He’s fearless going over the middle and would be a huge help to Trent Edwards.

My guess is that he doesn’t want to move from LG to RG. Also, being on the Pitt offense, he probably hates Ryan’s guts.

It’s impossible to get anything done at work today with all this news flying in….
You guys are great at keeping up with it, i wish i found you all sooner..

Could we really lose two FA in one day??
-
this stuff is great but insanely distracting at the moment. I’m on this site every five minutes
-
What is the story on Derrick Dockery? I know he underperfprmed in Buffalo but he is still a decent guard.
-
hahaha, ive been meaning to make that same comment for the past few hours.
-
For some reason I can’t post the link but Cimini is reporting Ravens are being given a chance to match the Jets offer for Scott.. could we really lose two FA in one day??
-
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
-
Dan I think that was an imposter making those comments but it doesn’t sound good…
-
this just showed up in the chat room time stamp 2:37pm
-
I juat checked Boland’s site and there is no mention of Scott leaving for Baltimore. Boland is at the doctor’s office and mentioned he wouldn’t be posting untilo later in the day. Sounds like a scam.
-
Oh please tell me that is true… I can’t take much more of this!
-
hey pat pat if it was an imposter on eboland site my bad but keep you comments to yourself you jacka** real tough guy pat pat
-
and thanks mel just trying to report stuff as i see it we all want him no need to say stupid stuff

This is what Clark Judge wrote:
Not so fast on Bart Scott. The free-agent linebacker was supposed to be on the verge of joining the New York Jets, but reports now have Scott giving the Baltimore Ravens an opportunity to match New York’s offer. If true, it wouldn’t be the first time he went down this road. When Scott was last a free agent he had a lucrative offer from Cleveland that he took back to Baltimore, promising to re-sign with the Ravens if they matched the deal. They did, and he stayed.
-
Yeah, Mort just said on 1050 ESPN that he thinks Bart Scott is doing an Antoine Winfield to the Jets….
-
The Jets would only have to pay Brandon Moore an average of $3.8 million for the remaining years of his contract. I still don’t understand it. They were willing to pay this Pittsburgh guy $4 million. What gives? Just sign Moore!
-
You allways have to over pay a little to pry another teams player away.Draft better this year.Trade the whole draft for 2-3 starters.
-
come on give this guy some more money and lets call it a day
-
Well I was hoping that this gaping self-inflicted wound would heal up fast but apparently it’s going to take a little while longer. It would’ve been a great signing. Anybody else out there to think about? You know I resent having to think about this.
-
Damn I wanted that guy….Who’s up next??
-
The brandon moore cut will start looking even dumber as time goes on…I could just imagine the “what now?” facial expressions going on in the FO right now…..
-
There is a report that the Pats are going to trade Vrabel and sign Ray Lewis.
-
Trade Vrabel to KC.
-
I don’t see them trading Vrabel but I figured that’s where Lewis would end up anyway, just liek seau right?
-
the RG position is the least important position along the offensive line (unless of course your QB is lefty).
I wouldnt mind putting Turner at Guard (if possible) and leave woody at the tackle spot -
So we drop a good lineman with a mediocre salary despite greater advice and try to patch his position up with an unproven starter?
Uhhhh, yeah… it’s sound like ’07 allllll over again…
-
the fact that the jets wouldnt spead moore’s roster bonus over the life of his remaining (very modest) contract and yet were willing to give $4 mil a year to Kemo still makes me stratch my head. i know an established LG will command more than a RG, but considering their cap position – the Moore cut looks to be both unnecessary and foolish
-
and i dont buy the argument that the RG is not important and therefore nothing to worry about. the line is only as good as its weakest link. with the makeup of the jets line, it is very important to have a good run blocking RG that can either down-block or get to the 2nd level to allow Faneca to do his thing pulling. if we have a crap RG who is going to get blown into the backfield on every play, we arent going to be able to run to the right.
secondly, you have to plan for injuries. a solution that involves turner or hunter and/or moving woody around is a recipe for disaster if anyone else went down with an inury.
all this would be less important if our HC didnt make a blanket statement to the league at his first presser that we are going to be an “all weather offense” with a heavy run emphasis.
-
Maybe Rex looked at the film, discussed with Tanny the possible cuts and decided Moore wasn’t good enough and he’d rather make a run at Kemo. Now that Kemo’s gone, where’s Moore going to go? Moore could still re-sign with the Jets, Dockery is out there for the taking and isn’t Goff from the Chargers available? Unless Adrien Clarke is re-signed, I’m not get excited about an average RG who was due over $7 million.
-
Ridiculous. Someone earlier asked if Moore is available. Let’s hope he doesn’t get offered anything good and the Jets pick him back up at a better price.
-
brandon moore wasn’t that good…

so what’s next a trade?
