CJ Mosley Traveling to JAX, CLE

by Bassett on February 28th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

Jets defensive line backup CJ Mosely is now a free agent, and according to the Sporting News, is looking to see where he can find work

… Mosley is set to visit Jacksonville on Monday and has a tentative meeting with Cleveland slated for later in the week … Mosley made his bones as an NFL player under Mangini with the Jets, where he backed and started in spots, and filled a valuable role in the club’s sub packages. In Jacksonville, he’d add depth inside for a club that suffered from the loss of Marcus Stroud, who was traded to Buffalo last year.

I liked Mosely a lot as a ‘depth guy’ for the Jets. He had a high motor and gave the Jets solid pass rushing depth on sub packages. I’d like to see him stay with the Jets, but I’m sure he’s looking for a place where he can have a better chance to start, likely in a 4-3 system. At his size (6’2″ 305lbs.) it’s going to be hard for him to be a two or three down defensive lineman for the Jets.

if we do end up signing leanard and ivy, Our holes will only be DE/DT, WR, backup TE
Given that we dont have much holes. how about jets trading their 1st and 2nd rounder this year and maybe a 2nd rounder next year and try to get into the top 6 of the draft

mosely did make some good play’s for us.

  3. avatar JesusRevis says:

Mosely was a nice player, but hes a dime a dozen.

The Jets have very few holes, lets trade every draft pick we have for Jay Cutler.

2 first round picks, 3 first round picks, give them whatever they want.

o wow that would be amazing can you say CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

  5. avatar brian g says:

if you want cutler, you would have to give up revis, or give up leon and this years 1st and next years 1st

  6. avatar dan says:

no way they almost just traded cutler for cassell and if they think he has the same value it would be a second round pick

  7. avatar JesusRevis says:

who knows what we would have to give up but if Denver was willing to trade him you can bet Tannenbaum would be on the phone. 2 first round picks for Cutler seems like a fair deal, and you can bet if the Jets got Cutler their first round picks would be VERY late, possibly even #32

I personally would give up 3 first round picks for Cutler if that was necessary, but I cant imagine any GM would ever be willing to part with 3 first rounders. just my personal preference.

sign-and-trade here? sign a vet like leftwich, garcia, etc. then ship them with picks to denver for cutler? i wouldn’t give up a first round pick though…

  9. avatar brian g says:

denver is out of their mind trying to trade cutler and have cassel instead.

  10. avatar JesusRevis says:

jim, you wouldnt give up a first round pick for Cutler? Hes an elite QB.

  11. avatar AKA.....Drew says:

Mcdaniels wanted his guy Casell but he would be insane to deal Culter. I would trade 1 & 2 for him yesterday if we could!!

  12. avatar ridinmywave says:

What has cutler done to become an elite quarterback worth a first round pick?

  13. avatar dan says:

idk maybe throwing for 25 td passes last year could make it worth it

  14. avatar dan says:

    o and 4,526 yards too

  15. avatar JesusRevis says:

ridinmywave, come on man, where do comments like that come from?

  16. avatar jp losman says:

if i’m mike tannenbaum, i do what what ever it takes to land jay cutler. with in reason of course.

i still lie in bed awake sometimes thinking we could have drafted cutler @ 4 and mcneal where we took clemens.

sorry jesus, but i would trade your boy revis as well.

  17. avatar BigKatFan says:

Rams safety Atogwe is an free agent. why isnt he being pursued?

  18. avatar AKA.....Drew says:

Come on wave….Are you serious?? The guy is a proven 4000 yrds 25 TD guy. The draft is a crap shoot. This guy has NFL tape that proves he can be a franchise QB.

  19. avatar Le'Sean Roberts says:

he’ll fit nicely for CHI, IND, PHI, etc.

  20. avatar AKA.....Drew says:

The thing that makes this story funny is Cutler can be a little bit of a head case here and can really make this get uncomfortable….He comes off as a punk sometimes and I can see this getting ugly in Denver…..In saying that I would love having him in our huddle every Sunday!!!

  21. avatar JesusRevis says:

jp losman, Ahhhh, that would be the biggest predicament of my life. Lose my favorite player versus acquiring the franchise QB we have never had? Sorry, but I cant even think what my choice would be if that were the situation.

  22. avatar jp losman says:

    jesus –

many of us went through it last year when pennington left. your guy is our best player. well actually 1a and leon is 1b, but revis plays a desirable position. he would have to be in the equation i would think.

if i could choose from any QB in the NFL, right now, not including tom brady, i would take culter hands down.

  23. avatar JesusRevis says:

Id rather trade away first round picks for Cutler than Revis. If we got Cutler our draft picks would be at the end of the first round guaranteed. Send the Broncos 2 first round picks, #17 in 09, and #32 in 2010

  24. avatar jp losman says:

    #32 in 2010 huh?

if necessary i would go further than that as well.

i can t say enough of how much i want this guy. i would trade my wife.

in reality we probably have no shot

  25. avatar JetOrange says:

The only guy I wanted to keep was Mosely. It is interesting that no one has shown any interest in the guys cut by the Jets.
