I’m participating in the 2009 All-Bloggers Mock Draft, and so far, we’re at the sixth pick of the draft. At this point, Bengals Stripes have just taken Jason Smith.

Basset, Bent, etc- No cheesy GM speech about how you are looking to see who fall to 17 and how deep this draft class is? C’mon who are you guys pining for?

The worst mock ive seen so far.

Rey-Rey went too early. He’s not even on Mayock’s top 20 list.

If WRs aren’t there trade down…unless…i don’t you’re gunning for Sanchez….Harvin route running still needs work.

Maualuga @ 6?? This draft is insane.

Interesting article on Stafford on ESPN.com predicting that he will be a “bust”:

Yeah it has Sanchez as a good prospect. I’m warming to the idea of drafting him.

So far this mock is off. I agree with Stafford to Detroit. No doubt about that. I agree that the Rams need an OL, but I think it will be Jason Smith instead of Eugene Monroe. Smith outshined Monroe at the Combine, and also has more upside. I agree with Aaron Curry to the Chiefs. He’s the safest player in the draft. Why would the Seahawks draft Crabtree? They just signed TJ Housh to a deal. I see Seattle going with either offensive line or BJ Raji to replace Rocky Bernard. Rey Malaluga is going to fall out of the top 10, no doubt in my mind. He may even fall out of the top 15. He didn’t run so well at the Combine. I see the Chargers taking him at 16. I agree with Cincinnati going with OL. I think that both Monroe and Jason Smith will be gone by 6, so they will go with Andre Smith to replace Stacey Andrews.

    Darrius Heyward-Bey?
    Tyson Jackson?
    Chris Wells or Moreno?
    Hakeem Nicks?

NO PERCY HARVIN!! Guy fits the mold of another Peter Warrick or Coles he is no Santana Moss imo

JAGG, I’d rather “hit or miss” with 6-6, cannon-armed and mobile Josh Freeman. His rating isn’t far below Cutler’s and you can’t coach arm strength, size or mobility…Freeman has all 3, while Sanchez’s arm strength isn’t Meadowlands-ready. I’ve posted before, if I were the Detroit GM, I’d draft Sanchez…it’s accuracy you want in a dome and with Megatron, you don’t have to pass it deep in small windows…Megatron is always open. My dilemma is Stafford, whose arm strength is special and has suprising mobility, or Freeman? I like height for QB, so that’s a major plus, but Stafford has a Favre-like howitzer. It’s a close call. Plus, while the ESPN analysis is interesting, Stafford did improve every year at Georgia, he had a great junior year where he was remarkably consistent on a game-to-game basis. I wouldn’t make him the no. 1 pick, but 17 is a different story.

Where is the rest? All I see are the first six picks..

Jeff, besides Crabtree, Harvin was the most dynamic WR in the NCAA. He’s a playmaker and the Jets don’t have that many of those. I’d rank the WRs that would be at 17 as 1) Harvin, 2) Nicks, and 3) DHB. Watch Nicks’ highlights. He already knows how to play the WR position and could contribute from day 1…DHB is fast, but I don’t see him getting off the LOS in the pros or running great routes…you can’t just run go routes in the NFL. But, I’d prefer not to take WR at all.

Sack- I’ve heard plenty of great things about Sanchez’s arm. The only place I have heard bad things about it is here. If the scouting reports I’ve read are true I’ll take Stafford or Sanchez. Freeman to me is not a first rounder. Maybe in the 20s at best. I’ll leave it up to them.

Sack, while I enjoyed the ESPN article, I’m surprised that you linked to it since it uses 2/3 of the same evaluation as the Football Outsiders research that (iirc) you and seanmac had major debates over a couple of years ago. FO said you could judge top QB’s on just comp pct and starts; this one agrees with those two and adds TD-INT ratio. Are you saying you agree with this formula or just throwing it out there to give context to Stafford?

By the way, if my math is right, Kellen Clemens scores a 46.4 on this formula.
