Hard to believe we’re already halfway through!
Just like another administration’s first 100 days, so too TJB will be keeping watch over the Rex Ryan administration for the first 100 days … playing it by the numbers if you will. Each day, we’ll try to keep the associated day number in play.
Day Fifty One
#51 In My Program & In My Heart — I know, I know … it’s no great secret that J-Vil was one of my binkies. Smart, erudite, team leader, and a young and good player. Vilma was the crowning piece of a freshly revamped 4-3 Tampa-2 front seven in 2004. Just three years later, Vilma was ill-equipped to shine in the more physical 3-4 system and the Jets kicked him to the curb. You could make a pretty solid front seven (Ferguson, Abraham, Farrior, Vilma, etc.) with the players that the team has cast off over the years.
50%+1 — Also known as a majority, All you need in in our democratic/republic system to get some stuff done. Although it seemed a majority of us fans were against the organization after the season ended. It’s amazing what a few months can do.
As Worn By – Some great players have worn 51 for the Jets. Including Ralph Baker, Greg Buttle, Jim Haslett, Brian Cox and Vilma of course
Add your “fifty ones” in the comments …

Good number for Jet linebackers. I am glad the Vilma is returning to form. We should have never changed from a 4-3 to a 3-4. We never used the 3-4 properly, anyway.
-
Actually, we never should have changed from the 3-4 to the 4-3. Thanks, Hermway.

Never realised Jim Haslett was a Jet.. damn..

Good post. Vilma was fun to watch in the right system. Just a note: you wrote that the Jets could make a great front seven with the players they cast off and listed Ferguson as one of them. Jason Ferguson was not a cast off – Hermway were desperate to keep him and from what I read more or less matched the cowboys offer, but he wanted to go back to Parcells, who drafted him and was his first coach. I remember that Edwards had said that keep Ferguson was priority number one that off season. Kind of reads like the history of edwards’ career.

I really liked Vilma alot. So much so, that his is the only jersey I’ve ever owned. After such great #51′s over the years, here’s to hoping Bart Scott wears it…so the tradition will live on.

Cutler has put his home in denver up for sale.
I think denver muct trade him now before his value goes down more
-
Carl Parisien Natick MA – if Cutler has his home up for sale who will he play for and who will quarterback Denver. Stupid move by Josh McDaniels
-
Re Cutler: It’s not his primary residence, and he’s been planning to sell it for months. It has no bearing whatsoever on his situation with the Broncos. He’s planning on attending OTAs on Monday, so there’s likely very little chance that he’s going anywhere.

how about 51-45 jets dolphins in one of the greatest jet games of all time
-
Just to let everyone know, Adam Shefter is reporting that Brian Schottenheimer and Rex Ryan will be holding a private workout for Josh Freeman.
I guess they aren’t “set” at QB after all…
-
Joey Galloway?
Welcome to New England, where the old come to die!
-
kyle, galloway as a #3 receiver is a great deal for both sides.
-
joe mott was a fave of mine when i was a ballboy.
-
gotta draft a QB but Freeman has bust written all over him.
got to get Sanchez if he’s available…
-
Right…Sanchez who is a one year wonder, and Freeman, who started as a true freshman and performed at a high level for three years is the potential bust.
Sanchez offers us nothing more than what we have in KC, in fact I’d feel safer with KC who showed a lot more in college then Sanchez.
-
Mole – the story as of now is actually the exact opposite, they do not expect Cutler to attent OTA’s on Monday.
51 – My favorite Jet, J-Vil. I miss you man

Patriots signed joey galloway why we don’t sign torry holt?
