The fact that someone would want Ratliff right now instead of Cutler knows absolutely nothing about football and should no longer be considered a Jet fan. Ratliff had a couple of good preseason quarters! Denver has had one of the worst D's in football since he has been there. Their offense has not been the problem. No one has any idea how good our D will be next year that we can get away with a inexperienced QB. Everyone blames Favre but our D absolutely collapsed last year.

On the coaching aspect of Cutler I dont want one to think that I feel Shanny is a bad coach. The second he became available I thought he should have been our top choice. Where Shannahan did a bad job was that he took a cocky kid and allowed him to get cockier and babied him every step of the way. You dont take a guy like Cutler and in his second year in the NFL start telling him his arm is better than Elways. Part of a coaches job is to mold the QB into being a leader and Denvers staff gets an F in that regard.

RocBoy- I would be worried about Cutler in our scheme. For whatever reason our coaches scheme turns our QBs in interception machines. Cutler would have the potential to be in a 30-30 club here.

Sack- I think you are 100% correct on how you have to evaluate KC. Statistically he is a complete disaster when compared to others in his same category of experience. Whether you go by QB rating or any of the FO stats he would basically be bucking nearly 30 years of stats to be a franchise QB. Cutler, on the other hand, is in a class few others have been in.

Come on Cutler in his third year has passed for more yards than John Elway in a single season. Lets go and get us a QB for the next 8-10 years and atleast 6 out of 10 years in the playoffs. I doubt any of our QB's are playoff QB's, but I know they are not superbowl players. Cutler is definately going to take us to the playoffs and possibly a superbowl. I predict it if we get hime!

Well, I doubt that Cutler would come in and gain a lot of respect with the players seeing how a fair amount probably already hate him. Clemens at least has been with these guys for years, so he has more of a shot I think.

RK,

Clemens shouldn't get as many chances as Eli. Eli was the #1 pick, the Giants invested a ton of money and picks into him. Thus, the Giants were committed to him in a way that the Jets aren't committed to KC. Plus, comparing Eli's first starts to KC's isn't all that fair. Eli was still a rookie, KC had the benefit of a season holding a clipboard and a second NFL training camp before he took a snap. His comparables should be guys like him, 2nd year pros who start, not rookies. In short, the bar should be raised higher for KC, not lowered. In 2007, KC posted the 7th worst QB rating for a starter since 2000. Thus, even without the bar raised, he failed miserably. But, because the bar was raised, I don't think he should be cut the same slack that you would for a rookie QB. For those reasons and the facts that he is undersized, skittish in the pocket and doesn't read defenses well, I think that he does not deserve another shot at starting unless he blows away the competition. If he's even with Ratliff, let's go for the taller guy who hasn't stunk it up out there.

I don't feel Clemens has the players respect, which will hurt his ability to be the starter.

13 and 3 with him to 6 and 10 without. He was much more than just the quarterback of that team. But they had to do it. It was Rodgers turn. He waited long enough. Rodgers did his part, but Brett provided a different energy for that team. They would have done much better with him.

Seriously guys, how can you take Clemens 2007 campaign seriously? His first 8 games stack up pretty much how Eli's first 8 games did (I actually think Clemens' stats were better). He had at MOST 3 seconds per pass play, so how can anything he did be taken to heart? He showed flashes, and that can be considered his rookie season, so I don't understand why people are saying he's useless. Wow, he lost out in training camp to an 8 year veteran who, aside from arm strength, had every other advantage a QB could have.

Yes, that is what I'm saying. QB has to pick up the slack and he did have a large number of attempts.
