The NFL just recognized 89 player charities with 5 being Subtantial Philonthropies. Pennington’s was one of them, I didn’t see Farve’s anywhere near there. Take a look at those foundations, you’ll be impressed. I wasted one day trying to find Farves Foundation and what I found was very much lacking in presentation.
Why do you guys keep giving giving this guy all the accolades when his wife runs it and and he shows up to “Just have fun”.

That being said I wanted TO as a Jet. I think Ryan would have kept him on the level.

I admire the work both TO and Favre have been involved in.

It doesn’t affect my view of either on the field. Nor should it.

I like your sense of humor, but by millions you must mean the Alzheimers Foundation right? Surely not Farves foundation because the three functions AND their auctions they only grossed about a half a million last year.

Also, c’mon Bent, you can’t compare being honored at a gala by a internationally renown multibillion dollar Foundation for “work and “devotion” as was TO, to Farve. He is not listed, even as an Important employee, only his wife and about 50 other helpers. I give ALL kudos to his wife. Like Isaid, showing up to play golf, play softball and have dinner doesn’t count for me.

Owens doesn’t run his charity either, he shows up to events like Favre and reads out prepared material as a spokeman for alzheimers. For once, this doesn’t appear to be shameless self promotion from Owens, who had obviously been touched by his grandmother’s health issues.

It’s a worthy cause (one I expect to benefit from personally when I’m older) and – entirely coincidently – one that my office is raising funds for tomorrow, but TO doesn’t answer the phone or collect donations personally either – the value comes from him attaching his name to such a cause. That’s just the way it works.

It’s great that TO received an award, because it promotes the individual and the charity. Favre himself received a congressional honor in 2007, which “recognizes his generosity to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, his work with Deanna Favre in breast cancer research, and his charitable work to benefit disabled children in both Mississippi and Wisconsin”.

I guess there is good in everyone.

I checked a litter deeper and found out that his wife runs the show and he appears at his foundation to play a round of golf, have “a” dinner, and play some softball with his GB team mates. Not bad bad for devotion to his “Foundation”.

Oh, and by the way, he donates used stuff of his to auction at each event.
