News: Vilma’s Condo Connected to Double Homicide?

by Bassett on March 31st, 2009 at 8:15 am

The connection isn’t exactly clear, but it seems that former Jet Jonathan Vilma’s vacant home in Woodbury has become part of a tangled pair of drug related murders in New York City.

“Jonathan has no knowledge of this. He hasn’t lived there since Nov. 2007,” Frankel said – a fact neighbors confirmed.

The 2004 NFL Rookie of the Year is trying to sell the two-story townhouse and spoke to his Realtor last week, Frankel added.

“To his knowledge, nobody is living there,” the agent said. “He is clearly shocked to find out about this.”

The Daily News uses an unnamed law enforcement source that indicates that it was one of Vilma’s relatives or friends that was using the condo, and that friend or relative it is presumed is connected to the case. There’s no reason to believe that Vilma was involved, at least not at this time.

i don’t know that vilma has any connection, but mike vick claimed that he hadn’t lived in the dog fighting house in a long time too.

generally, i feel responsible for what goes on in my own house, whether i am there or not. although, few nfl players seem to share the feelings of personal responsibility that regular everyday people have.

Football is a violent sport and its players rarely come from rose gardens. Not to say that Vilma is guilty of anything more than being raised in a toxic environment, one that breeds more outlaws than choir boys (even they are at risk around a few clerics). Even if he goes down the Vick path, blame it on the culture and not the individual who, if guilty, will pay the price. It reminds me of JFK’s Dad who was never a role model of fidelity and it seems to have rubbed off on his boys. It’s the olde: what goes around, comes around.

Vilma isn’t your typical thug from the U.

Vilma was a three-time Academic All-Big East Conference. He received a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Miami’s well-respected School of Business Administration.

Vilma has always been a stand up guy. Probably wasn’t involved. Then again, people here in Philadelphia were ready to put Marvin Harrison in jail for that night club altercation so you never know. Innocent until proven guilty.

I tried to post this in a thread last week, but my computer was acting up.

So I was out in Vegas for the NCAA tourney/bachelor party two weeks back. Had a table at Tao nightclub on Thurs and ironically seated next to me was Jonathan Vilma. Went up and spoke with him a bunch – cool as hell! Super nice and classy guy. He said how much he missed New York and wish he was still there.

The conversation took a funny spin when I asked him why he wasn’t still in NY. He was very candid with me on why it didn’t work out. In one word, “Mangini.” He said he didn’t get along with Mangini at all and couldn’t work with him. Great with Xs and Os but miserable personality and didn’t have fun or relate with his players. Nothing we haven’t heard before but funny that Jon said it to me.

Got a good pic of Jon and me – thank god for camera phones.

I just hope it works out for him. Everybody says that statement “I’m responsible for what goes on in my home”…but when something goes down they hope for the understanding of others….don’t mess up dude…people will come down on you like a freaking tornado.
