Jason Taylor Would Rather Retire Than Be Ineffective for Yet Another Season as a Jet

by Bassett on April 8th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

xerxessp.jpgJust like I thought, Jason Taylor (pictured) admits it would be a pretty dark day for him to become a Jet.

”It’d be very, very, very difficult,” Taylor said. “At the end of the day, if I couldn’t find a job anywhere else and the Jets called, I guess I’d have to retire or go play.”

The Jets have been in contact with Taylor but nothing is expected to happen.

I respect that the Jets have been in contact with him, I mean, they’re doing their homework, but the thought of Jason Taylor as a Jet makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

Kinda do have a disdain for Taylor. Why is it that Chris long is so great of a DE and at the same height/size, Gholstons to small?

  2. avatar david i says:

Did the article say the Jets contacted him or was it just a response to a dumb question from a reporter?

  3. avatar James in TN says:

Put it this way, if he played for us I wouldn’t watch the games til he got hurt or left.

  4. avatar Mrjetgreen says:

Nobody, not anybody, HATES to hear the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS and much as Jason Taylor……….. I love it!

I think it really, really got to him after our 8 wins in a row versus the Fish……… Got to love it!

  5. avatar Dylan says:

Shut up JT. Go dance your way to retirement, because we don’t want you on the Jets! We will draft a DE in the 1st or 2nd round, and then our defense will be set.

  6. avatar Brandon from Illinois says:

Prior to reading this, I was thinking that I would like to see him play for the Jets. I thought maybe he could have a come back and help sweep the Dolphins. I was thinking I’d like to hear the press try to make the Jets and Dolphins match ups all about Taylor and getting revenge on Parcells, since we had had to listen to all the Pennington revenge stories last season. But, now I’d like to see Taylor retire or go to horrible team next season. I think I’ve lost all respect for Taylor now that he has expressed how “difficult” it would be to play for the Jets. I’d understand if he used to be a Patriot, but the Dolphins and Jets can barely be considered a rivalry anymore. What does he have against the green and white?

  7. avatar Bill says:

ok…so eff the guy and go jets and all that other sort…but at least there’s an athlete who won’t just forget all of his prior notions based on money…

so there we go…i hate the guy…but at least he’s got a line he won’t cross

  8. avatar jay says:

i dont the bum anyway, he’s old washed up, and who want a fa* thats ben on dancing with the star’s what a bum, hope he drives home drunk.

  9. avatar Mrjetgreen says:

Jason Taylor has been diagnosed with J-E-T-S disorder. The cure is to never play the Jets again!

  10. avatar EastSide says:

    scissor me timbers!

  11. avatar Mrjetgreen says:

The World Health Organization (WHO) is reporting that “J-E-T-S disorder” will be spreading through New England come September 09.

  12. avatar jetphan says:

he puts the “oosh” in douche

  13. avatar Le'Sean Roberts says:

This isn’t anything special…it’s should be obvious, playing for MIA such a long time…they are division rivals you know. I’m shocked that anyone is surprised by such a statement. If he doesn’t want to play here, then whatever…would be an upgrade over Bryan Thomas.
Zartan, the scheme Chris Long operates in, being a DE isn’t as difficult as a 3-4 OLB. He has to learn the system. It’s easier playing 4-3 DE….Long pretty doesn’t have to learn anything new. Until anyone sees Gholston play and suck badly everyone should shut up about him being a bust until he proves he’s a bust. Wasn’t his fault anyway. He wasn’t implemented to his strengths at all. Have you really watch Chris Long? No better than Glen Dorsey is their rookie. Again it’s easier to play 4-3 DE, he should look somewhat natural at it.
Most people will not like this, but Quinten Groves was the best option at 3-4 OLB…he already knew the damn scheme, and was great at it.

    Lmfao southpark nice bassett

  15. avatar TOON2388 says:

We owned this guy for most of his career – he should hate us.

And where was the talk that Miami won w/o him last season?

But, if he can help us – sign him – that is the sports world we live in….think Bulls fans ever wanted Rodman on their team?

  16. avatar Kyle "The Young Jet" says:

    Brandon From Illinois-
Dont give up on Jason Taylor, they didnt post the full quote.
He said it would be difficult because of all the trash he has talked about the fans, the chant and Fireman Ed.

  17. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

I hope this guy craps through his pants while playing on the field and the cameras catch it!

    What a scum-bag!

  18. avatar JOHN ANDREWS says:

SCREW TAYLOR, LET HIS GAY DANCING BUTT GO BACK TO THE WEAK FINS, THAT WAY WE CAN CONTINUE TO LAUGH AT HIS HAS BEEN MISSED TACKLES AND WEAKNESS ON AND OFF THE FIELD!! JASON TAYLOR, YOU SIR ARE A TRUE BONEHEAD!! GO JETS!! #1 BABY!!

  19. avatar Alex says:

There ia certain amount of hate that athletes like Taylor inspire for themselves. It is not A-rod level, so I say let it go. A player is a player. If he helps us win with his play on the field and does not mess up the team chemistry, than it should be forgive and forget. Welcome aboard Taylor. Young Jet is right, you need to look at the entire statement and you should also factor in possible media spin.

Having said that, if he signs with the Pats or the FIns, I hope our O-line just knocks him on his ____ all day.

  20. avatar Michael says:

You know, I’m actually not too pissed about these comments, cause it shows the guy cares about the game more than as a business, that he sees it through our eyes just a little, even if the stuff he said is about the Jets. I would wish that our stars would say the same type of stuff about the Dolphin/Bills/Pats and rather retire than play for them Regardless, I wouldn’t want him on the team even if he was from someone like the Vikings or Seahawks and wanted to play for us. He’s in his mid-30′s, on the downside of his career, not as committed to football as much as his peers, and would not fit a need. On top of his comments, would just be a terrible signing.

  21. avatar Zenlaw says:

Clemens on the Yankees was tough to swallow. Lindros on the Rangers was even worse. Taylor on the Je….I”m not even going to write it. No f-ing way. The Jets own that guy and not because they pay him a salary.

  22. avatar TOON2388 says:

Zen – for my sanity, I tried to mentally block out Boggs/Clemens/Johnson/Damon

Boggs was the worst because he was the first…..just another thing that sucks about free agency

  23. avatar Le'Sean Roberts says:

Stop being babies people….Taylor will be the perfect 3-4 OLB. He can play both strong and weakside. The guy has always been a class act. You expect Curtis Martin to be in a Conga line with the patriots. Trashing Boggs…I mean come on. They were winning with him…he contributed greatly. That’s absurd…one of the best Baseball teams and guy is complaining about winning a pennant. Rodman was one of the best rebounders in the modern era and came up big….then again, it’s obvious you’re not a Bulls fan with those Dynasties, etc. Who in their right mind would complain about that? Yep you got to be a Knicks fan. Mud slinging is one thing..when feces become the projectile leave the issue alone.

  24. avatar TOON2388 says:

Le’Sean – ask any Bulls fan what player they disliked the most pre-1995, and the answer is either Rodman or Starks. Do you remember what Rodman did to Pippen when the Bulls finally beat them in 1991? He tried to end his career. I am not an NBA fan. Was just stating a fact, that in today’s sports world, fans need to get used to rooting for players they once despised.

Any player who puts on a JETS, Yankees, or St. John;s (don’t laugh), or San Diego St. (my alma mater) uniform – I will root for. it is the name on the front that matters – not the name on the back (or # when it comes to the Bronx Bombers) that matters.

  25. avatar Le'Sean Roberts says:

I would admit this, you will never see me in a Rodman t-shirt,. so you have made me reconsider. I can’t remember any issues with Boggs other than going into the hall of fame as a Redsox, which leads me to wonder if he didn’t win championships would he have gotten in? If not, then that’s robbery.

  29. avatar Jason says:

I was hoping SHE came her to help groom VG, now SHE can go pound sand, SHE should learn from her own comments, business is business, and when you have an opportunity to be a professional act accordingly, on a side note
WE JET FANS got to love it, WE ARE ON THE PLAYERS HATE LIST
    J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

  30. avatar JustAGreenGuy says:

Screw Jason Taylor. Glad he doesn’t like us. We don’t like him.

  31. avatar Z says:
