It seems that when the Jets picked up Marques Douglas from the free agent wire, they forgot to mention where he stands amongst his defensive brethren.
According to Stats Inc., during the last six seasons (2003-08), in stints with the Ravens, 49ers and again with the Ravens, Douglas ranks third among defensive players in tackles for losses with 41.5. Pat Williams, a defensive tackle with the Bills and Vikings ranks first with 49 and Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is second with 44.5.
Douglas is coming to the Final Countdown of his career and, stated that he wanted to end things with Rex Ryan. The Jets have been looking for depth on the defense and his statistics suggest that he is the right guy for the job. Although he won’t be a ’regular’ just imagine what he might be able to do for the Jets defense.
It looks like Douglas will be able to go out on his terms.

Bent,
Rhodes and Pace haven’t played for six years. Scott’s been productive lately, but only for the last four years, not for six years. If Stats were to run the figures over the last three years instead of the last six, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be on the top-ten list.(Why would they even use six years as their point of reference in the first place? Who cares what someone did five or six years ago?)

That’s a good point Mole, but you would think lining up next to Jenkins, he would have the best odds in his entire career to get into the backfield.

With him and Green I feel our line is going to be a Whole Lot better this season.

Ok so this guy has some potential for his age.
On paper Coach Ryan looks like he assembled a solid team. Let’s just hope it looks as good if not better in action.

dknyj- Lining up next to Jenkins will give him good odds to be productive off the bench but let’s not forget Ngata is no scrub either. Should be interesting as his measurements seem more fitted to the 4-3 DT position. Versatility will be key with this defense’s success.
