Your Oddly Cobbled Together Morning Camp Report

by Bassett on April 16th, 2009 at 4:35 pm

The reporters are working hard today, here’s a link to the reports I’ve found so far:

[Erik Boland - Newsday]
[Rich Cimini - NYDN]
[Jane McManus - Journal News]
[Lisa Zimmerman - Sirius]

Some thoughts from the reports (cobbled together after the jump)

Ryan is still finding his place as a Head Coach instead of DC. Sounds like he’s used to getting his hands dirty and he’s playing to his strengths, but trying to step back.

Clemens had a slightly better day so far than Ratliff. Ratliff threw an ill-advised pick to Tyrone Brackenridge.

Bart Scott is doing his best to introduce some cockiness to this team that it’s not used to having under Mangini. Cimini noted that Damien Woody called it being ‘de-programmed.’

Sounds like project DL/TE Kareem Brown was moving well, but not catching well.

It’s not worth freaking out yet, but both Shaun Ellis & Brandon Moore sat out becuase they had some minor corrective surgeries recently. Glad they’re having it now, but it’s something to keep an eye on.

Gholston is getting shock-therapied into going full-steam, all the time. Apparently Westy had some choice words for the youngster in a pad drill where he let up some.

Ryan was complimentary to WR Brad Smith during the presser, but he’s also said it’s time for the fourth year player to produce.

Erik Ainge’s reason sounds to be personal in nature. No more details so far.

Jane McManus has a list of tryout players who are there with the Jets today (listed above).

Интересно и позновательно, а будет еще что-то по этой теме?

  2. avatar Brandon from Illinois says:

Brandon Moore has an injury? We already knew the Jets needed to get some help at defensive end, but now it looks like they better get some depth at o-line too.

I agree with the first comment

espn has just reported that danny ainge has suffered a heart attack, which could be the reason why his nephew, erik ainge, has not been in camp. best wishes to both of them.

  5. avatar Snakeman says:

arredoRolley – there will also be reports following the afternoon practice. all of the above were from the morning session.

Yep LJ you beat me to it- I thought exactly the same thing when I saw the report about Danny Ainge. Here’s the link:

where was it (practice) held today?

  8. avatar Joe B. says:

Danny Ainge had a sudden heart attack today, it’s not like he’s been sick, and Erik has been absent for a while now. I don’t think that explains his absence.

  9. avatar Norcal Jet Fan says:

Joe B beat me to that comment. Ainge has not been around for several weeks. Danny Ainge had a sudden mild heart attack today. Unless he has a crystal ball….

  10. avatar ian says:

Move up in draft for andre smith and move woody to RG. Faneca and woody are both getting to the ages where injuries will mount.

  11. avatar Harvlis says:

Rich Cimini, talking about a Ratliff interception said that “it was ugly and showed his inexperience”. I guess, when Favre was throwing his 20+ Ints, it was due to his inexperience.

  12. avatar RKNYC says:

Harv I think the QB competition will be under a pretty close microscope for the foreseeable future.

Unless they get a QB somewhere else.

    Draft…so close…soooo cloooose…

I am truly excited about Ryan, his schemes, his attitudes, and everything. However, I can’t help the feeling the that we are going into the opposite extreme of the past 3 years. Extreme’s are dangerous in my mind opinion. You want the players to have fun, but accountability and discipline will be a big factor in pressure filled games… especially in NY. Can we have a fun and discipline at the same time?

P.S. – Sorry, forgot to tell you great post!

What?!?! Our inexperienced quarterback displayed some inexperience? CUT HIM NOW!

On the plus side, I think Brackenridge is potentially going to develop into a lockdown corner.

  16. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

The more TJ acts like a donkey and holds out, the better the odds are the JETS are taking a RB at #17.

  17. avatar Harlan Lachman says:

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT
LIke everyone else, I have thought that with Leon on the team, there is no place for a Danny Woodhead.

OTOH, a different perspective might be that Leon has been successful but cannot be an everydown back. Perhaps the other downs could be handled by Woodhead. Either Tony R, Kris Jenkins, or even the third RB could be our short yardage guy.

It would take a team with outside the 9 dots thinking but if we don’t get a stud RB in the draft or through the cuts of other teams, I hope our FO is open minded enough to consider it.
