“Horrific Collision” Mars Day Two of Minicamp

by Bent on April 17th, 2009 at 1:30 pm

Dan Leberfield reports…

I have been covering the Jets for over 10 years, and this is the worst collision I have ever seen in a practice.

Updates will follow, but it sounds like Cummings suffered a concussion and Wallace Wright may have also been concussed and hurt his knee in a freak collision as they were both moving at full speed in separate drills.

That doesn’t sound like “fun” either. Let’s hope both are alright…

Wow. I hope they’re going to be okay. Last thing you want to see during minicamp. Hopefully nothing is too serious.

Just an FYI – Something like this would never have happened under Mangini. Mangini is so detail oriented (perhaps to a fault) that he wouldn’t be dumb enough to run two drills right at each other.

Nevertheless, really excited that the QB’s are playing well and that this drafting a QB nonsense will stop.

“Let’s have more fun! Move faster! I want everyone practicing in the end zone! Why aren’t you wearing your roller skates?! I’m a fruitin-tootin-coachin-genius!”

Sorry to post off-topic, but it looks like the Bills traded Jason Peters to the Eagles for a late first-round draft pick.

Let’s hope this is not a sign of things to come. Rex Ryan can be the best, but he’s going to make mistakes in his first head coaching gig.

The Bills traded Peters to the Eagles. Probably won’t be announce until the Eagles give him a new deal. Bills got a 1st (28th pick) and 4th and undisclosed pick next year which is expected to be a late rounder. I think the Bills will just draft Ebon Britton from Zona to replace him with their late first rounder

Not a great way to kick off our 2009 season…..

I was fired up thinking that Cummings might have laid Wright out in drills but then find out they were in seperate drills??

Hope they are okay but you just have to laugh

I doubt that the head coach set up these two drills himself.
Let’s not go throwing him under the bus with two sentences worth of information to process.

The Jets just posted more details on the collision here:

Thankfully the collision doesn’t appear to be too serious thankfully.

Setting drills is not the HC job. Someone will be getting an ear full this afternoon.

  11. avatar J-E-T-S says:

You guys are just eager to blame Rex for something

  12. avatar hank/naples says:

I guess they listened well when Rex told them to step up the “fun” yesterday.

  13. avatar BigKatFan says:

They will be fine come kickoff weekend

  14. avatar Matt in Maine says:

Yawn. Two football players got hit in practice. How you can blame this on Ryan I have no idea. Should be a fun season once Ryan makes his first coaching mistake.
