Link: Q&A With Revis on NFL.com

by Angel Navedo on April 29th, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Darrelle Revis was busy answering questions(that were moderator-approved) from the fans on NFL.com this evening. The confidence is definitely coursing through everyone’s veins. After all, the man introduced himself as “the No. 1 cornerback in the NFL.” Take that, Nnamdi.

Some excerpts:

Frank, Virginia 05:32 PM ET
I’m the only fan out here by far but i was woundering how do you think our defense will be this season? and do you think Bart Scott will be a major impact on our defense?

Darrelle Revis, NFL.com
I think the defense is going to be great. We’re going to try to carry the team. Defense wins championships, so that’s what we’re trying to build. Bart Scott was a big pickup for us in the offseason, he was successful in Baltimore and he’ll be successful with us as well.

Brendan, New Jersey 05:17 PM ET
Thanks for taking my question Darelle, I was wondering what your impressions are of Lito Sheppard after minicamp?

Darrelle Revis, NFL.com
We got Lito in the offseason. He’s going to be the other starting corner. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler and has proven himself to be one of the best in the league, so we’re happy to have him as a Jet.

Marshall, Atlanta 05:20 PM ET
How did you come down with that one handed interception in the probowl?

Darrelle Revis, NFL.com
Anquan Boldin had my other hand, so I just tried to reach out with my right arm and see if I could catch it. I didn’t think I was going to catch it, because I thought it would bounce off my shoulder pads, but I happened to reel it in and make a great catch.

I definitely didn’t expect anything too revealing. But it was interesting to see that his initial assessment of Sheppard is as a starting corner. I know everyone expected that, but with his injuries, I was a little nervous that the job wouldn’t fall right to him.

Thanks to MikeGangGreenFan2 for the heads up.

  2. avatar I New York I says:

idk i love Revis. one of my favorite jets. but there is a thin line between confident and arrogant. and i idk if i like arrogance.

  3. avatar J-E-T-S says:

Arrogant…He is the best what are you talking about who lock receivers down better?

  4. avatar fafa says:

Right, because NFL players need to get paid more, that’s why we need to extend the regular season.

  5. avatar TJBfan says:

I was 5 minutes late he just left. I’ve been a big Revis fan since day one, had him on my facebook friend list until he took it down(prob a smart choice being in the NFL).

I loved the interview, and this is the type of stuff that would not fly if mangini were still around. He said if he didnt play CB he would play WR….hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lol

If you had to choose a nickname what would it be ? unless you already have one ?

    Darrelle Revis, NFL.com
I already have one. It’s shut down

  7. avatar JesusRevis says:

    I love it

arrogance doesnt exist if you are actually as good as you say you are….

    and Revis is the best

  8. avatar dade county jets fan says:

when someone asked him if the jets would make the playoffs he said “I think we can make it to the playoffs. We are going to jump on Mark Sanchez’s back. “…………and when he was asked if mark sanchez would be the started from day one he said “He’s our fifth pick overall. So, I’m sure they are going to throw him in the fire, it’s just a matter of when they are going to do it. We have other quarterbacks there, Kellen Clemens knows the system, so it is just a matter of Mark coming in and learning the playbook. “……………sounds like he has absolutely no confidence in kellen clemens and it sounds like he’s happy that Sanchez was drafted………if a top cb like revis thinks poorly of clemens then i can see why the coaching staff does too and thats why they got sanchez……he didnt even make it seem like it was going to be a competition…he said its just a matter of sanchez learning the playbook…..haha…….i want to hear what leon washington thinks cause i heard an interview where they asked him clemens or ratliff and he said clemens……

  10. avatar Mark Franchez says:

Man… Revis is cocky as all hell. He called out Jay Cutler too. Some interesting comments:

Q: Darrelle, if you had one wish, what would it be?
    A: That I had a billion bucks!

Q:Hi Darrelle, would you like the season to be extended to 18 games and 2 less pre-season?
A: Yeah, because that means we would get paid more.

Q: Hey Mr. Revis, big jets fan from across the pond. In your opinion who is the best corner in the NFL?
    A: Me.

Q: Hi Darrelle. Whose the most cocky player you’ve ever played against? (or with)
A: I would have to say Jay Cutler.

Q:who is the most challenging reciver you have had to cover?
A: I’d have to say Chad Ochocinco

    And of course the intro:

“Hello fans, his is Darrelle Revis, the No. 1 cornerback in the NFL. I look forward to answerng your questions.”

  11. avatar fonzie says:

I think revis is too high on himself. I feel in a couple years he will be the most dominant cornerback in the nfl.

    JesusRevis,

You have no idea how great Revis really is, no one knows how good he is. I don’t think even Revis knows how much potential he has. That is what makes it really exciting. For you to label his high level of confidence as part of his greatness is complete stupidity. You say how much you watch him on film yet you probably don’t know a thing about how he tries to win the “space” battle between him and the receiver something Mangini stressed to the media when Revis was a rookie. Mangini said during one practice a couple of years ago about the “stem of a route” which is before the receiver makes a move to break away from the cornerback. He said you want the corner to meet the receiver and take the cushion away. Sounds simple but very important to the amount of space the receiver has to make the catch and how much time the quarterback has to locate his receiver if he has a good release to throw the ball. You forget how well Mangini coached Revis.

  12. avatar Joe B. says:

He didn’t answer the Lito question at all.

  13. avatar Juice says:

I love Revis as a player like the rest you and I even own his jersey but this interview reminds why its sometimes better not to get to know players personally. His answers sounded like either he didn’t care about this chat or that he doesn’t think before he talks. Is he seriously going to respond to a fan question by saying he wants to make more money? Aside from answers like that the remainder were generic and uninspiring.

  14. avatar HOZ THE JET says:

revis and the guy with the funny name on the raiders are the best 2 corners in the league.

  15. avatar Dylan says:

Haha the Jets REALLY don’t like Cutler!
Rhodes already said so and now Revis says he is the cockiest player he has played against. I’m very happy we didn’t give up all our picks to get that guy. It would have ruined our team chemistry.

  16. avatar Bobby C says:

They asked him what his one wish was.. and he didnt reply super bowl :(

Mayb because he intends to get 10 of those for us!

  17. avatar largebarge says:

    Fonzie

I guess everyone that believes Revis is the best CB in the league is stupid too, ey??? Like Rex Ryan, or just about anyone that knows anything about this game, even remotely!!! You’re clearly a Baffoon, get a clue…….and the Mangidiot’s gone, get over it!!!

  18. avatar fonzie says:

    LargeBarge,

How is going eh? Its sounds like you like the rest of these frontrunners loves hearing themselves talk. Like Rex can’t develop his own players. Get a life Largeb(arge).

  19. avatar fonzie says:

Give the Mangenius credit where credit is due. He developed a fine young cornerback #24 Darrelle Revis.

  20. avatar largebarge says:

    Fonzie

Go back, and read your post!!! You pretty much say that nobody knows anything, but you do!!! Laughable, at best!!! Get off your higfh horse, and smell what you’re shoveling!!! Everyones entitled to there views, and I clearly view you a Baffoon!!! Enjoy!!!

  21. avatar fonzie says:

    See you later Largeba(r)ge!!!

Interview with Revis. Says he thinks Sanchez was a good pick because they didn’t have a QB before. A bit of a dig at Clemens and Ratliff, methinks.

  27. avatar fonzie says:

I think we will go 8-8 this year.
