For those of you who are looking for the Jets to add a receiver … maybe Braylon Edwards lacks the focus that you would want in Green & White:
We all know Braylon Edwards did not have a great season last year, and a quote in ESPN The Magazine may reflect part of the reason. According to NFL safety and model Will Demps, this is how a conversation went down between Demps and Edwards during the Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans game on Dec. 7 last year, a contest the Browns lost, 28-9.
“Last year, I was with the Texans, and when we played the Browns, Braylon Edwards asked me between plays if we could talk after the game about modeling and acting.”
Edwards had plenty of time to talk during the game, too, as he finished with three catches for 38 yards.
You have to wonder if Edwards thought he was the next Ray McKigney … clearly … he’s not.

once again, let’s stop thinking about trading draft picks for idiots. granted, the team sucked last year, but is this guy a leader of men? he’s a baby, and i don’t want babies on my team. the best receivers during the last decade have to owens and moss. how many rings do they have between them? that would be zero. some of that is circumstance. i’m not saying you can’t win with those guys, but please.
save the draft picks.

I agree with Alex but …….. what better place to be a model than NYC baby!!!!!!
-
If this guy can get focused he could be a top 5 receiver, he has all the tools. I know he had some drops but thats more due to concentration and attitude then his hands. I would give up a first rounder for him in a heart beat. He and Mangini will NOT mesh, look for a big controversy at the beginning of camp and a subsequent trade.

This troubles me because it sounds exactly like Johnny Mitchell. The ONLY reason Mitchell was a bust was because his focus was not on football…he just didn’t care about the game. Believe me, Mitchell had it all as a TE. He dominated games. IMO, the most maddening Jets player of all time.

SACK DANCE 99…..
great analogy. i was at the marino spike game (94) when boomer threw him 2 td passes. the guy looked ridiculous. and then……..NOTHING. you can’t win with guys who you do not know what you are going to get out of them. we need consistency. are hines ward and santonio holmes the best wr tandem in the league?? who was wards number 2 a few years ago? we don’t need world beaters. just consistent guys that know their role. i’m not saying we even have that yet, but give it time.
AKA….DREW…..
you are hysterical. funniest quote by you i have ever seen. hysterical!!! -
Edwards would not be worth the cost. Pass.
-
Good glad most of you don’t like it! I am just writing propaganda posts so people stop asking about him and Boldin … :)
-
Great idea Bassett…
I also heard Boldin eats babies
-
Alex,
I always remember his 3 TD game against the Eagles…the infamous “Bubby Brister” game. He was a MONSTER in that game. He had a 65-yard TD and something like 150 yards against a good Eagles defense. He was a threat to take it to the house on every reception and nearly won the game…remember how he was tripped up on that 4th quarter reception? People call Mitchell a bust, and he was, but for 3 seasons, I thought the guy was going to be the best TE in Jets history. Then, POOF! It was all over. Only on the Jets!
-
Hahahaha!!!!!!!!!Matt that was great…”Boldin eats babies”…hahaha
-
MIKE Tannenbaum needs to make this guy a jet
if he does, we are a super bowl caliber team -
hilarious

SACK DANCE….
OMG THE EAGLES GAME. MONSTER is the most appropriate word. i went to bed giddy that night. what can you do. this is our journey. i have faith in this regime. i really do. i trust what they are trying to do. we have to give it time. like i said before, cowher didn’t win it all until his 15th year. did you know that he was the special teams coach for that infamous playoff game in 1986 against the browns? i was watching nfl classics and there he was yelling in the huddle for cleveland. god, that was the worst day of my life. i was 12. i didn’t even go to school the next day.
-
Alex,
Awful Jets loss. IMO, the worst. And, the way you’ve phrased your question, I’m guessing Cowher was the coach. The Browns gave us that game on a silver platter…only the Jets could allow Schottenheimer to win a playoff game.

Edwards killed my fantasy team last year. We can only take on so many big contracts at one time. Sign Leon long term before we trade for a WR.
-
edwards is definitely not the answer. plaxico is the best thing out there, and at the best price. i’m a lawyer in NY and i can promise you that plax wont do any serious time. if the nfl suspends him, it wont be for a full season.
i dont condone the fact that he rolled out with an illegal firearm, but lots of stars get hassled by drunk people trying to get famous. if i knew revis carried a nine, i would still want him on the team. its more of a personal choice, IMHO.
someone just needs to teach plax how to work a safety, the kind you dont find on the field. go get him tanny.
-
i would trade brad smith and even a first or more likely a second for boldin.. try holding on to our first round pick and dealing for boldin.. we get boldin, hold onto TJ and the rest of our team, playoffs or bust
-
That comment just single handedly made me detest Edwards. If we are gonna make a deal, get Anquan. BOLDIN EATS BABIES!!!! LMAO (Amazing Matt)
-
I think most of you guys are nuts!!!! If we could get Braylon at a decent price, DO IT!!! Lets face it, Cleveland is’nt the greatest place in the world, and sometimes a change of scenery can work wonders!!! The fact is we don’t have a legitimate #1 WR, & Braylon definately fits the bill!!! Now I’m not saying to give up the farm for the guy, but if we could get him for next years #1, and a #3, I say MAKE IT HAPPEN, CAPTAIN!!!
-
We should not give away any picks for a player who led the entire league in drops. We need the picks next year to find replacements on our offensive and defensive lines. If Burress is able to play this year we should take him in a heartbeat. If not we should sign a veteran like Toomer or Harrison. At the very least they would provide a safety net and a mentor for Clowney and Smith, but I think they both have some more game left in them. With a good OL and QB though, WR shouldn’t be a huge issue. Brees consistantly does well with unproven wideouts, and we saw Brady succeed before Moss as well.
-
The guy was playing for the browns. Bring him 2 N.Y!!!
-
New York is great place for Models, Actors and Receivers who can catch… In other words, we don’t need either Edwards or Demps!
