  9. avatar JP says:

What’s with the brace on his left knee?

  10. avatar JetObsessed28 says:

He dislocated his knee cap last summer at USC, then hurt it again in October..

if you google “Sanchez knee”, you’ll get some results on it..

  11. avatar gsteigs says:

hey what about shonn grenne did he get any reps

  12. avatar jcjets says:

nyjets.com has extended QA with sanchez after practice, and rex ryan press confererance. good stuff!

  13. avatar JetObsessed2 says:

gsteigs – Rich Cimini of the Daily News wrote this about Shonn Green:

Initial thoughts on RB Shonn Greene (third-round pick): He’s definitely a north-south runner. There was no hesitation in the backfield. On most runs, it was one cut and go. He showed some open-field burst on the final play of practice, taking a screen pass from Sanchez and turning up field.

  14. avatar Zartan says:

jcjets, Nice vid. Im sold on greene.this guy is this years starter if you ask me. Sanchez looked awesome. Im glad you guys are embracing Sanchez. speaking on raw emotion as someone hear once said,I can see this guy winning us a superbowl before he’s done.

  15. avatar LWSquad says:

JET Nation- How can you not get caught up in this? It’s good to see Sanchez understands what it takes to become a successful QB. Of course it requires hours in the gym, study in film room and work on the practice field. But to make it in the NFL as a QB (especially as OUR QB) you must do more. This guy can, and is, inspiring those around them. He is making the extra effort already(getting ALL Offensive rookies involved in conversation and game-planning before camp) and hopefully a few of these UDFA feel inspired enough to push harder. I think the effects of this move, along with the signing of Rex Ryan, have started a snowball effect that is sure to become the NEW J-E-T attitude. “Win at all costs.”

  16. avatar SC-Mike says:

I wouldn’t read too much into the knee brace. As a die hard SC fan and alum, I’ve noticed it’s been nearly customary for QB’s to wear knee braces. Sanchez wore it for a lot of games last year. And John Davidy Booty and Leinart may have worn it every game.

  20. avatar Frank says:

out of the 7 pro bowl qbs last year 3 are 6’2″ or less — favre, warner, and brees. mcnabb and romo are both 6’2″. that’s just off the top of my head.

  21. avatar Kixworld says:

Frank thanks but did you have to mention farve did you lol warner/mcnab and farve is only 6’2 really did not know that thought farve was 6’4 look taller than clemens last year same with warner are you sure not to be a jerk

  22. avatar Kixworld says:

frank just to make sure the jerk part was as in me not you

  23. avatar Jay says:

I hate to sound like “one of those fans” – and i know he hasn’t sniffed an NFL field yet – but I’m likin’ Sanchez more and more each day, and can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to this team down the road. Obviously time will tell but I’m fully confident it was the right move for the org to make.

  24. avatar Crom says:

    Viva La Sanchez!

  25. avatar Smashmouth says:

Other 6’2 QBs: Joe Montana, Steve Young, Joe Namath. Elway was 6’3.

  26. avatar Butch says:

    Dirty Sanchez lives.

    Viva la Sanchez

  27. avatar largebarge says:

You guys are getting a little out of control with this height jarggin!!! All I keep thinking about is Doug Flutie, (The Tom Thumb of QB’s)!!! If you can play…….You can play, It’s just that simple!!!

  28. avatar Kixworld says:

Thank you. i feel alittle bit better now. I still think.. yea its the first mini camp dam is it football season yet

  29. avatar TOON2388 says:

Really hope KC steps up to push Sanchez – will make the team better – plus, would love to KC have a Brees 2004 year so his trade value is high

While you all know I did not like the move, it has nothing to so with Sanchez’s skills – had to do more with cap aspect, other needs not addressed, and maybe we already have QB in KC. Sanchez is the QB of this team in 2010 latest, if not 2009. KC winning job over Sanchez and having big year would help us – downside is a QB controversy

  30. avatar fonzie says:

Ryan says of Sanchez from Thomas George of nfl.com

“He’s a natural leader,” Ryan said. “Some guys lead and some can’t. Some guys have it and some guys don’t. It’s easier to follow someone who has confidence in himself. If he’ll just be himself, he’s going to be able to handle anything.”

This sounds like Charlie Weis speaking of Tom Brady after they won their first superbowl going to their second. I think some people are playing with themselves. To mention that he can display the same fluid movement and pocket presence as Tom Brady is a bit too much. The new york media is getting a little bit excited of their “Golden Boy”.

  31. avatar fonzie says:

Sanchez has only led a bunch of undrafted free agents to one practice. There is still a lot left.

  32. avatar fonzie says:

We don’t even know if they know each other!

  33. avatar fonzie says:

Where is Bent? Hey bent what is Rex Ryan’s model of consistency? I know Mangini had three or four words painted on the practice field each time the team went out during the week. He repeated the same things over and over again. What model does Rex have and if you can point it out to me has he consistently followed it and preached it?

  34. avatar TOON2388 says:

Fonzie, it has to be “kill the other team’s QB, especially if he has a bum knee and abandoned a child”

  35. avatar Tyson Wall says:

    MUY BUENO!

Girlfriend is hispanic. The only spanish I know is Dos Cervesas Muy Frillo Por Favor.

Woody and Tanny are brilliant business men. First Favre. Then Ryan. Now Sanchez.

I just don’t see Eric “I’m not the Hoodie” Mangini or Kellen “I’m from the Sticks!” Clemens getting a fanbase (who was bamboozled twice — 1. leaving Shea, 2. leaving Hofstra) excited to shell $$ for tickets and PSL’s.

Basset, you’ll have a mancrush on Sanchez by opening day.

  36. avatar Tyson Wall says:

“Sanchez has only LED a bunch of undrafted free agents to one practice. There is still a lot left.”

I see leadership potential in you fonzie!

  37. avatar Bent says:

Fonz – thanks for the shout out. Let’s just say I’m having a rough week.

It seems that the way Mangini reportedly micro-managed and engineered everything to an almost military level of precision is completely at odds with Ryan’s approach which seems to promote more freedom at camp. I don’t think it’s as black and white as that – Ryan has good abilities with X’s and O’s and Mangini used to do things to inject “fun” into his camps too.

Both have their merits, but I’m not going to make any judgements or proclaimations about which is the more effective method until I’ve seen the team under Ryan in action. We also don’t know what kind of a gameday coach he is going to be.

  38. avatar AKA...Drew says:

Welcome back Bent…… You vanished juts like the David Dunn transcript…

    Youre the man Bent!!!

  39. avatar fonzie says:

    Bent,

I only asked for Ryan’s model of consistency. If you can find it through his press conferences then how many times has he repeated it?

  40. avatar fonzie says:

Or does he even have a model to follow?

  41. avatar fonzie says:

    Tyson Wall,

I mean why should the new york media get too excited for one minicamp practice with a bunch of players he hasn’t even known yet? The only thing Sanchez is doing is giving the media something to chew on.

  42. avatar Bent says:

fonzie – No idea. Maybe he is just going to be reactionary and “wing it” (no pun intended). It’s a risky way to do things, but I guess you can get burned by sticking too rigidly to pre-set philosophies and not being flexible enough too.

I think it’s too early to tell, ultimately, but I’m not going to get too excited about a rookie camp either. I’m just glad nobody got hurt.
