The Grey Remains of a Frienship … Scarred

by Bassett on May 7th, 2009 at 9:05 pm

You got someone coming around
Gluing tinsel to your crown
He’s got you talking pretty loud
You berate, remember your ailing heart
And your criminal eyes
You say you’re still in love
If it’s true, what can be done?
It’s hard to leave
All those moments behind
Kissing the Lipless, The Shins

Like a Shins song about a bad breakup, it seems that some Jets players are harboring some bitter feelings about Favre … not that I blame them, the simple mention of Favre’s final pre-game huddle “pump up speech” sends me into expletive laden tirades.

So even though some folks were willing to toss around cliches or even “no comments,” off the record, it was a different story today at Florham Park.

According to Hutch, here’s two quotes.

“I wish somebody would come out and tell the truth about the guy,” said one player, who did not want to publicly carve into the future Hall of Famer. “I’m sick of him. He just came here to give it a try? My career is too short for that.”

Another player said Favre should just retire but the lure of a big payday is too tempting to pass up.

“What would you say if someone came to you and said they would give you $15 million for one season?” said the player.

Cimini gets another gem:

“I’m tired of being part of his soap opera,” said one player, who requested anonymity. “If he really wanted to win a championship, he’d be right here. Let’s call it for what it is: He wants to play for Minnesota so he can stick if to Green Bay twice a year. He’s just being selfish. I’m, not surprised.”

I hope this makes it to NFL.com headlines, and eventually be mentioned on ESPN everyday, then Favre can really know what people think of him and his stupid soap opera where he gets the entire NFL involved

What is the benefit of saying something evil about another person, it actually dirties the person being quoted.

The Brett Favre didnt work out well in the end, but he did give us some incredible memories that shouldn’t be forgotten:

    - Wk1 @ Miami: Play action deep bomb touchdown to Cotchery. I jizzed in my pants
    - Wk4 vs. Cardinals: 6 TD passes
    - @ New England: 3rd and 15 to Keller. OT win for first place in the division
    - @ Tennessee: Pass to Coles off back foot in the back of the endzone. Beating the only undefeated team left in the NFL
