  1. Ya mo murdered a lot of people out there…

Stephen Ross just stepped into…A VERY DANGEROUS ZONE!

Man, this is going to make next season that much more enjoyable, ahahahaha. I hate Jimmy Buffet. We need to cut a deal with Kenny Loggins.

  2. I am not sure if TJB is afraid of covering this issue, but The Star Ledger rported that the JETS have called season ticket holders who have opted for the non PSL seats and have demanded a $500 per seat deposit. Just one more way that the JETS Management is screwing loyal JETS fans. Soon there won’t be any fans to screw.

  3. Coconut Pete > Jimmy Buffet

  4. Ed…I’m sure we’re not afraid of covering the issue. It just strikes me as pretty depressing and futile to keep revisiting it.

That does sound pretty outrageous. I’m not surprised people are upset.

  5. We’re not afraid, we’re actually so frustrated by it I don’t even know where to begin to post.

  6. Cocunut Pete is way better. I love Pinacolodasberg!

  7. As for the PSL adjustments. I hope they give everyone a kiss. Its nice to get a kiss when you get ****ed. Or at least a Sanchez jersey.

    I really hate Woody.

  8. I don’t like this PSL mess anymore than the rest of you, BUT….

I don’t have enough seniority to even sniff the free seats, I’m praying for a shot at $4K or $5K PSL’s just so I can keep going to games, I’m not about to cry for someone who has to lay out a measly $500 for a year and a half that they will get deducted from their tickets when the purhcase them in 2010.

Actually I think its very reasonable, what are they supposed to do, guaruntee some long standing season ticket holder 4 free PSL seats in the upper deck next month, and then when the time comes to purchase the tickets for those seats in the spring of 2010 they renege. Where does that leave them, they’ve already allocated all the free seats at that point, and more deserving candidates for those seats have purchased PSL’s at that point. It would be a huge mess. You are getting for free what thousands of others have to pay for, all it requires is a deposit.

Its not even that much of a stretch from what they do every year sending out the playoff invoices in late november, even though the team is barely .500 and a longshot for even a wildcard they want you to pay for 2 home playoff games. Same scam different day, either way its up to you to pay it or not, no one is putting a gun to your head.

  9. sec 108,
You sound like the PR man for the JETS.

I like Bassett hate Woody. I think he he taken every fan unfriendly step one could make and more. His PR staff must be from the hospital association as compared the the sports world where you build fan bases.

I like Tannenbaum and Woody should put Tanny in charge of the whole operation.

  10. Ed(itor),

I have no love for Woody, believe me, but I think he is far from the evil idiot many posters on this blog make him out to be. I have been a loyal season ticket holder for over 10 years, and I know full well that this team didn’t need a new stadium (unless it was only for the Jets and in NY), let alone one that brought with it the ugly business of PSL’s, one built solely for the purpose of making the team more money and having very little bearing on the overall fan experience.

Take an objective look however. The jets co-tenants in this new stadium, the Giants, have implemented an almost identical PSL plan, save for the “free seats” in the upper deck, they are charging $1000 PSL for those, not a deposit like the Jets. They also have 3 Superbowls to show for their expenses in the last 23 years, something us Jets fans would know nothing about.

Look across town to the Yankees and Mets, they opened their new stadiums this season without PSL’s but with enormously increased ticket prices, ones they are finding very difficult to sell in these tough economic times and are taking some heat for it. Point is, Woody is hardly alone practicing this questionable bilking of fans. I’m not excusing it, but it seems to be the price of going these days, so if I want to go I’ll deal with it.

Woody is far from perfect, I haven’t loved everything he has done (trying for that grandiose stadium in Manhattan being tops on the list) but at least he spends money trying to put a winner on the field, and seems to hold his coaches accountable (Herm, Mangini) and after enduring decades of Leon Hess’ indifference letting a ridiculous suit (Steve Gutman) run the team and ripping them out of Queens because he didn’t like the bathrooms at Shea, I’ll take Woody anyday.

  11. So we should appreciate the fact that Woody is sticking in it our behind with a slightly smaller stick?

  12. Kyle,

If you read my posts I clearly don’t “appreiciate” it no matter what, be pissed if you want, personally I’m going to miss alot of the people that I used to go with and tailgate with, because in this current setup they won’t be able to go.

All I was trying to say is that in the grand scheme of this whole thing. I’m not about to get as enraged about the Jets charging a $500 DEPOSIT (which you get back when you buy the tickets), as the Ed(itor) seems to be. And I don’t like Woodyh for doing this, but I don’t hate him either, seizing the opportunity to gouge your fan base whenever you can is hardly an ownership trait unique to him. Personally I more outraged when they started charging $50 a year to be on the waitlist (which you also got deducted from your ticket purchase), charging a deposit on the PSL free seats makes alot more sense to me than that did.
