Link/Audible: What Would You Ask Kellen?
As the past week has gone by, it’s occurred to me that an honest answer from Kellen Clemens these days is probably as likely as an injury update from the southern banks of Lake Erie. And it just so happens that I’m not the only one who thinks that Kellen Clemens would be one of, if not the most, fascinating interviews on the Jets’ roster right now. Michael Cohen of Bleacher Report throws out 20 questions to ask the Jets’ previous QB of the future.
Here are some questions I would love an answer to…
3) What have you done differently this offseason, as compared to the last two or three years, in your efforts to prove that you are the starting quarterback of the New York Jets?
6) I remember hearing an interview with Coach Schottenheimer on the NFL Network in which he compared your situation to the situation to that of Drew Brees in San Diego when they drafted Phillip Rivers; if you had any communication with Brees to pick his brain about a situation like this, what do you think he would he tell you?
8) Did Coach Mangini give you a fair shot at the starting job? Do you feel he believed in your abilities?
19) You have moved to your opponent’s three yard line; the clock is ticking down to 15 seconds; it’s third down and goal against a stout Patriots defense, what would you call? A fake to Thomas Jones and try to scramble on a naked bootleg, diving into the corner of the end zone?
Drop back a couple of steps and loft the ball to the corner of the end zone? Or try to ram it into the end zone with either Jones or Leon Washington?
20) Would winning the starting job mean a sense of vindication for you personally?
I think the last two would tell me a lot about Kellen. Granted, it’s unlikely anyone will ever get completely truthful answers out of Clemens. Being an athlete these days is nothing like it used to be. They’re entirely too guaraded and formulaic in their answers these days to gain more than speculation from their answers to tough questions. But enough about me…
If you had the chance to sit down with the former Oregon QB, what would you want to ask Kellen Clemens?

Edwards, Boldin, or Burress?

19) “Brian Schottenheimer draws up the plays- I would trust him in that situation.”
20) “I’ve always wanted to be a starting QB in the NFL. That would be my dream.”Way too obvious.
Another thing is I really sense some resentment from the media that Clemens has been such a class act over the past two years. This guy is a graduate of the Pennington School of Adversity Management so don’t expect headliners any time soon. Give Clemens and Sanchez an equal shot at the job, it’s the only way to do it.

Having a good backup at QB is a good thing.

have you ever marched into Woody’s Rex’s or Mangina’s office and said…I am the qb of the New York Jets…now lets go win an f’in superbowl.
?

Why are you still here? Is the writing not on the wall?

I’m drinking the Sanchez kool-aid, just like everyone else.. But.. my money is on this:
Kellen wins the job out of training camp/pre-season… Starts in Houston on week 1…
If he lights it up week after week, Sanchy is going to have to wait a year…But if we start going down the same road as 2007, our rookie gets his chance 1/3 of the way into the season..
For Sanchez to start week 1, he’s going to have to be stellar and KC horrible…
How bout you guys.. what are you thinking? -
I’d ask him, “How did you not choke Justin McCarins after he dropped that sure TD against Baltimore 2 years ago.. Did you say anything to him after that happened?”

1) What did you say to richard seymour after he drilled and injured you?
2) Do you feel that the pope having blessed your child gave you divine football skills?
3) What were the first words out of your mouth when you fumbled the ball out of the endzone for a touchback vs. pittsburgh?
4) Do you believe antonio cromartie was insulting you during his celebration that monday night (’08)?
5) Will the absence of Chris Baker change the way you distribute the ball?
6) If Sanchez wins the starting job, will you see fewer reps at wide receiver in the wildcat?
7) I saw you throw a left-handed pass in ’07. Can you become an ambidexturous QB?
8) Why did you change from #6 to #11?
9) Do you feel that Chad fed you bad advice at any time?
10) Was the shovel pass to thomas jones vs. kansas city in ’07 a designed play, or your improvisation?

Who is the weakest link of the starters on the O side of the ball?
