AKA,

As I said, I don't see this as a real problem. I'm sure it will all work out. I'm very happy with the Sanchez situation and it's great to have someone leading the franchise (sooner or later) who wants to work so hard. It's all good. By all accounts Sanchez is a great teammate and I'm sure everybody will like playing with him. My only point was reponding to the issue that Eli Manning raised in his comment "“You’ve got to go in there, keep quiet a little bit and work hard to earn the respect from your other players.”

jvsvn??

While I agree some vet WR might be a little put off by the Sanchez throwing session text.....

Who are these WR that we have that have a track record to be put off by anything? i didnt realize we had a bunch of Jerry Rice's on our sqaud

Besides Cotchery our recievers have produced zero. I think W Wright, B Smith, Clowney and Stuckey should be thrilled we have a kid that wants to get some chemistry going....considering the most talented guy (D Keller) did show up.

I think the kid has shown he will not be overwelmed by the league or this city.

I guess a promising note on this comes from an interview Sanchez did about a week ago. Can't remember who was holding the mike, but at one point Mark remarked, "... despite the media being very intrusive here..." - wherein the context of the question was how he was coming along, and his answer was about getting to work, putting in the hours and practice necessary to succeed.

Because of this, I'm hopeful that he'll handle the hype and grow into a successful JETS QB.

Kudos to Eli for being a stand-up Pro on this. Talk about putting up with B/S - he had not only the hi expectations of being a hi draft pick (with MANNING on his jersey), but also had to deal with the diva-distractions that were Shockey & what's-his-name running the ball.

Which made their SB victory that much sweeter, seeing as how both were gone by then.

Greenduck, you just cut to the heart of what I hated most about the Favre trade last season. Chad was and is a consumate professional with a great mind for the game: a perfect mentor. If Favre were still around (and let's praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster that he isn't) he wouldn't be mentoring anyone, just stirring the pot to stroke his own ego.

I would do anything in my power to bring Chad P back to the JETS. is might sound crazy but i think he'll be the best mentor for Sanchez and i'm sure he would love that. Jets ought it to Chad to hang his boots here.

all the hype around MS is getting crazy and i'm sure that deep down he would love to sit out for a year and watch. it's that extra time that could make or break for the young qb.

This is my only concern with Sanchez doing things like trying to set up his own private workout with the veteran receivers, etc. While that sounds like a good idea, I'm not sure that a player that has gone through the entire NFL season would want to get that text message from a rookie. I don't think it will be a problem in the long run but I do think Sanchez has to be a little careful.
