A few interesting bits of news dropped tonight … why does this stuff always happen the nights I’m busy?
2009 6th Rounder OL Matt Slauson Has Signed — Early draft picks sign early, but I can’t remember the last time the Jets signed a draft pick this early. Last year the first Jets draft pick signed on June 3rd (Nate Garner) by comparison. In my mind a sign that other things are in the offing soon in terms of contracts. The Jets want to lock up as many moving pieces before they have to tackle some of their bigger challenges, like pending deals for Leon Washington and Mark Sanchez … maybe even Thomas Jones. In conjunction with this move, the Jets waived CB Tyron Brackenridge, who signed with the team back in February of this year.
Thomas Jones will be in attendance next week — A fact that Rosenhaus twittered this evening (which I couldn’t stand to follow his insipid tweets for more than a day since all he tweeted about how all his clients looking for jobs are in great shape) and something that Rosenhaus hinted at earlier in the day. Thomas Jones returning to working out with the team is a good thing. Not sure what’s spurred the change, but generally the Jets don’t negotiate with holdouts, but since it’s non-mandatory, he’s not exactly holding out. But like Baker, Kendall and Coles, talks didn’t really resume until the player returned to the fold first. This is at least a step in that direction.

I imagine TJ realizes that the only value he has comes from playing. The Jets won’t cut him (at least not this year) and he has no trade value. His best bet is to try to ensure that he is number 1 in the depth chart (by not letting anyone get too many reps) and bust another big year. Then he can get cut and sign a decent short-term deal somewhere else.

TJ knows he is not going to get a deal thats even close to what we gave him at this point in his career

I like that Slauson is signed let him get into camp and ota’s let callahan teach him.
As for TJ
Chad ocho cinco said it in an interview requesting a trade or more money and holding out was the dumbest thing he said he did just because the player has no power in a move like that. TJ knows that he has no power here so you would think he would just be happy he is even on the team i personally dont think he is anything special. I felt basically that the o-line did most of the work and any back in that second tier of backs could have did what he did last year..
