Mike Golic tells SportsCenter that he understands the reasons for doing it, but knows that Mark Sanchez is going to get “destroyed” by his teammates for his GQ photo shoot.
The JETS don’t need a pretty boy as their QB. But that appears what the JETS got. I agree with Golic, Sanchez should have used more common sense and not posed for the GQ photo shoot. Everytime he makes a misplay, he is just a pretty boy will be the commentary.
I don’t care if he is a pretty boy or not, all that matters is what happens on Sunday’s. Stuff like this doesn’t affect that at all (the shoot was before the draft), all it does is make it that much harder for him if he doesn’t succeed.
As if any hetrosexual male, regardless of their job description, would turn down a shoot like that…. People need to start realizing that the Jets have meant nothing to the NFL for years now. Sanchez makes us relevant because hes a good looking kid with the skill sets that make a winning QB. He has won at every level hes played and was one of the most highly recruited high school QBs in a while. The kid has talent. I want a STAR at the QB position, in every sense of the word. You gotta believe youre a star to be one, so I have no problems with his desire to seek attention. I want that attention. I want it on my team at all times. He will be the perfect complement to our new nasty defense. BRING IT.
This is hilarious – Bart Scott has a lot of new material for trash talk this summer. I think we can all agree with those that say Sanchez will look like a boob if he flops. How is it any different now that he’s in GQ? At least the dude is a stud, and modeling worked out fine for tom brady.

Sanchez is the first GQB we’ve had in a while. MSM is right, nothing wrong with a little spotlight in NY. Plus, if he becomes good- it will only make him cooler. I don’t remember anyone complaining about Joe Willie letting his chest hair bling on the beach back in the day. (You know the photo I’m talking about) Adds to the lore… as long as he’s good.

I am conflicted by this. I hate Tom Brady for doing this kind of stuff. I would rather get hit by a bus than be in a photo shoot like that. He is a young, good looking millionare. He will get gorgeous women without looking like an emo baywatch reject. When Namath wore stockings that took stones. This is Ashton Kutcher not Joe Willy. Namath would have had a smile from ear to ear being surrounded by models not looked like his dog just died or that he was pondering existance. I’m backing Sanchez. He will be our QB. This is beyond lame though and is not Namath like.
He takes that woman home too and for that he deserves a high five. Plus I have been blessed enough to be with very shapely and attractive women, so I don’t see it as the biggest thrill when they are being paid to do it. I have a thing about being a Tom Brady like tool. I hate sweater models.

At least Sanchez didn’t pose with farm animals, unlike a certain NFL posterboy photographed for the same GQ magazine. I think the shoot is fine. Yeah, maybe it will become locker room material for other teams, but I really don’t see it as a big deal. It’s not like a quote bashing an opponent. It’s not going to be a big motivator. More of a ridicule kind of thing on the field. If Sanchez can’t take that, he’s in the wrong occupation.
BTW, these photos were taken long before the draft. There was no way for Mark to know that he was about to be thrust into the media spotlight that is NYC.
Another positive having Bart Scott: After he gets through with Sanchez, nobody will be able to say anything to rattle Sanchez. Unless Sanchez doesn’t make it through camp, which would mean Scott exposed a fraud.
