May everyone rejoice because our beloved Gary Myers is at it once again. Myers does make a valid point here (on how Sanchez should take the publicity persona slow), so its actually worth a look.

Sanchez has to be careful not to get caught up too soon with all the opportunities that are going to come his way. He must show he can handle the distractions. It would be in his best interests to prove he can play before he starts hanging out in the New York clubs and starts showing up in the gossip pages…

…with training camp two months away, Sanchez needs to be all football, all the time.

Like I said, Myers actually makes a valid observation. If ‘Franchez’ gets too caught up in the ’stardom’ that comes with being a part of the Big Apple, how does he plan to fufill his promise of propelling the team forward into a new era… Being a rookie, Sanchez is placed in a delicate situation that he needs to not only physically but [especially] mentally prepare himself for.

Franchez is a terrible nickname. We, as JetsBloggers, need to stop giving it steam. Something else will come up as he plays.

I don’t know how much I want to read into Myers’ assessment. We can exaggerate his modeling pictures all we like, but I think he’s done a great job being about football too.

Funny how the pictures received more buzz than when he reached out to his receivers to practice outside of organized activities.

No real reason for us to analyze stuff he did prior to the draft. If it meant some cash for him before he signs his contract, then I can’t fault him for it.

I think Sanchez could be the most charismatic QB the Jets have had since Namath! He has already made some progress towards matching Namath’s swagger and lets hope that he matches Namath’s success on the field.

IT WAS A TYPICAL GARY MYERS ARTICLE. TERRIBLE. THE GUY IS AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT. I’M SORRY. I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY LET HIM WRITE FOR THE DAILY NEWS.

It seems that many people are a bunch of sadist and carpetbaggers. Some want to the guy to succeed, while some are throwing traps, or trying to cash in somehow. Sanchez should realise that this is going to to go as far as what he wants to happen.

Myers, as always, has an amazing grasp of the obvious. Saying that Sanchez should cool the “Hollywood” before he actually proves anything on the field is as obvious a piece of advice as “don’t touch that lit burner on the stove; you might get burned.” As he admits, the “GQ” article was before Sanchez was drafted. Besides that article, what exactly has Sanchez done that was a media grab? Instead, it seems to me that he’s done everything to accept the mantle of leadership, including working his tail off. I don’t know whether Sanchez will be successful as an NFL QB, but he sure doesn’t seem to need Myers’ or Derek Jeter’s advice. What he needs to do is get his contract signed, get into camp and win the starting QB job. I don’t think he needs anyone to advise him on anything other than playing QB in the NFL. He has coaches for that; he doesn’t need any pundit’s advice.

    SACKDANCE…

IS IT ME, OR IS GARY MYERS JUST AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT?? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HIM?

it was two months bfore draft i couldn’t care less, who wouldnt do that?? at that time sanchez for all hed know could b drafted and be holding a clipboard on the sidelines in the season and then no one would care

  12. Gary Myers should’ve written this article for his love child, Matt Leinart, and not Sanchez. Can you imagine if the Jets had drafted that Dingleberry like Myers insisted? I hope Warner is giving that a guy a kick-back for extending his career indefinitely. Myers is a jack-hole.
