News: Tourist Claims She Was Raped in Rhodes’ Home
A Canadian woman told New Jersey police that she was raped, and identified Kerry Rhodes’ home, in Morristown, NJ, as the scene of the crime.
New Jersey cops are investigating a woman’s claim that she was raped at the home of star Jets defensive back Kerry Rhodes after meeting him and another man at a Manhattan nightclub, The Post has learned.
The woman, a Canadian tourist, told NYPD cops that two men raped her late Friday or early Saturday in Morristown, NJ, where the 26-year-old Jet safety has a town house, New York law-enforcement sources said.
Rhodes, in a statement issued through a Jets spokesman, said: “I briefly talked with police on Saturday regarding an incident that allegedly took place at my home. The police confirmed to me that I am not the subject of this allegation.”
…The woman told police that she had gone out Friday night with a female friend to a Manhattan nightclub, where they met two men, one of whom was Rhodes, the sources said. The woman did not know who Rhodes was at the time, but her girlfriend did, sources said.
The woman said she left the club with Rhodes and the other man and went with them to a Morristown residence, according to the sources.
There, she told cops, two men raped her, sources said.
…The woman then was taken to a local hospital to undergo a rape-kit examination, the sources said.
The good: Kerry Rhodes is not the accused. The bad: everything else.
I’m not in the business of dismissing a woman’s rape claims. It’s a serious offense, and it’s something no woman should have to experience. If the investigation and rape-kit suggests that her allegations do have any merit, then she deserves justice.
But to leave a club without your friend and ride away with strangers is never wise—especially if you’re only in town visiting.

Strange. She claims she meets 2 men, one of which is Rhodes. She leaves with the same 2 men and end up in Kerry’s house. She claims 2 men rape her. Somehow Kerry is not a suspect. Who is this extra dude just hanging? Sounds iffy. My only hope is that maybe this party got out of hand and Rhodes said, “Sorry, not really my thing.” I would hate to think, if indeed rape was involved, this went on with his knowledge. Too many of the details lead you to wonder, when are celebrities going to learn, if they want to have sex with everyday women, they better get a release form signed. And if your buddies need to place to hook-up, tell them to get a hotel. Why? I don’t understand how Kerry is cleared….she said the two men raped her and he was one of the two men out. Also Vick was deeply involved with the happenings in his home…just claimed not to know about it at first.
I hope this doesnt turn into a fiasco I really like Rhodes…if he truly did then yeah he deserves to be punished but I want to be believe he didn’t
I have a really bad feeling about this.
I wish Kerry would quit focusing on “how beautiful he is” and just grow up and start behaving like an adult. Whether he is “involved” or not, that this type of thing can occur at his house shows the immaturity of the crowd that he keeps – whether or not the woman is exploiting the situation.

Judging by his twitter feed from Saturday, he doesn’t sound too concerned…

Assuming this is accurate, if he “briefly spoke to police on Saturday” it must have been while he was at home or in the evening.
Note that two men were reported to have left the house in a police vehicle, uncuffed, on Saturday and it would appear that neither of them were Kerry Rhodes, so some of you above that are assuming Rhodes was one of the two alleged to have raped her because he was one of the two that left the club with her have jumped to the wrong conclusion. Who knows how many people were already at Kerry’s – or arrived later?
With all that said, I don’t like the sound of this either. A few people have been very naive here, by the sounds of things.

People like Kerry Rhodes don’t need to rape women.
He is rich, young, in-shape, famous, and I doubt he’s deranged enough to need to commit these acts to enjoy himself.
The accusations are absurd. He also lives in a townhouse, so you’d hear lots of screaming, followed by some swift backhands and aggressive restraints. Kerry is strong so there would be many bruises and I’m sure the cops would have been called that night instead of her complaining the next day that she wants to rape him (oops I meant the other way around).

Look this woman was either raped or she wasn’t. If this is another case of someone trying to profit from a situation, then it appears that Rhodes and his friend(s) are in the clear. HOWEVER if she was raped then Rhodes is not. First of all if he wasn’t the second guy then who was…and if she left with Rhodes and a friend, and then goes to his house, how could Rhodes be unaware of what was happening in his home. We are not talking about a couple of teenagers getting carried away….HE IS A GROWN ASS MAN! And a grown man is responsible for what happens in his home for God’s Sake. I’m not saying he wanted this to happen, IF IT EVEN DID, but I am sick and tired of athletes who are payed millions of dollars, who demand that NFL Fans, owners, coaches, media,etc respect them as hard working professionals, can then turn around and act like irresponsible reckless children. It is a very serious crime and accusation either way. It sounds like some are trying to excuse what happened as “absurd” based on so called facts (lack of bruises and screaming), when the gravity of the situation is so great.

I also really don’t think this is the place to get into a debate about what is and isn’t rape.
Let’s wait for the details and hope that (a) the assumption that Rhodes is not directly involved is correct and (b) if there is a lesson to be learned from this, he has learned it.

Obviously not good and hope it’s not true, but athletes get themselves in this situation because colleges pimp co-eds to get the better high school players to play for them. Then, to compound matters when players sign big NFL contracts groupies chase them and make it easy for some athletes to believe that all women are there to be used.
It’s a sad story that sucks. I bleed green and like Rhodes, but if it’s true throw the book at him. However, if the colleges didn’t pimp to make the big college football money, these things wouldn’t happen as often. Bad behavior’s learned and increases when condoned. What ever happened to academic principles anyway?

i can’t remember if it was Charles Barkley that said it (or maybe I’m just attributing it to him because it sounds like something he would say) — but if I’m a pro athlete making millions of dollars, rather than get involved with situations like this — just go to craigslist or some other website and then go elliot spitzer on a girl that is probably way hotter and almost definitely more experienced than whoever you are hitting on at the club. and so it costs a few hundred bucks or a grand or something — chump change to these guys, especially if you avoid bad press, police etc. not condoning prostitution in any way, of course,

What wrong with with my dislike of Rhodes? I mean this is the player who was supposed to be respected in the locker room for being a leader. He was uprooted by Mangini and played to a Pro Bowl level. What image does he give to the jets now? He is not a Vick or an Antonio Pierce or a Pacman Jones. He is a young guy with some a lot of upside right? Why would he allow himself to get into a situation like this when he clearly had all the control. It was his home and his friend. Why would he allow his friendship and his image to take a hit? As I explained, they can’t trade him. I wasn’t making that up. They literally cannot trade him as it would put them way over the cap. They cannot go over the cap because it is against the NFL’s rules. They can’t cut him either for the same reason.
