People have been calling this guy “dirty” sanchez ever since he was named the starter at USC, they even make “dirty” sanchez t shirts when he elected to declare for the NFL draft on the USC campus. I’m sure he’s used to it by now, and I’m pretty sure when Mark plays against my Bills, the pats or dolphins, that he’s gonna be hearing this name chanted every now and then.

I agree with you on that – I don’t give 2 shakes for any nobility either.

Your outrage is noted, but as I’ve already said, it’s not like that’s what we’ll always call him from now on. I doubt you’ll ever see that name on this blog again, because Bassett only used in in this example because their commonly used nicknames are similar.

We do aim to keep this blog civil and I’m sure you will recognize that our standards are a lot higher than many other blogs.

I don’t give 2 shakes for Harry or any nobility. In America, our nobility are our entertainers whether they perform on a 100 yard turf or a 50 foot screen. I don’t disrespect the performers I admire. During the days of Jim Crow, whites used the N word. Not now, at least not in public. This blog is public and should be civil. Once one has been educated about a slur, it is a civic responsibility to avoid it, unless one is a racist or simply immature.

As to not getting paid for writing, Bent, that comes with the territory of breaking new ground like the blog universe that didn’t exist 10 years ago. The guys getting paid are not 24/7 fans like us devoted amateurs.

Maybe you need to get off this blog simplysimon. What he said was not that bad, certainly not in the case of Harry. And I wouldn’t have to get out of town if I didn’t want to no matter what I said. You probably would but not me. You need to get conscious–and a clue.

Maybe you are right, Simon. Sometimes it is hard to grasp the scope of this blog since I’ve been here since it started. That and the fact that I have never earned a penny from writing in my entire life.

Anyway, this blog didn’t invent the name that you have taken offense to, has never used it before, will probably never use it again and if you knew Bassett, you’d know he couldn’t possibly have intended any offense with it.
