Shouldn’t We Be Outraged Too?
This just appears to be an innocent promotional video featuring two former college teammates promoting Panini trading cards. However, Dolphins fans appear to be somewhat outraged at rookie wide receiver Patrick Turner for “fraternizing with the enemy”.
So, this begs the question, why aren’t Jets fans outraged at Sanchez for essentially doing the same thing? Is it because Turner interviews Sanchez making him look like the big star? Is it because Fins fans are just more sensitive about this kind of thing? Is it because this simply hadn’t registered with Jets fans until now and I am about to kick off a firestorm of shock and disgust? It can’t be because their fans hate the Jets more than Jets fans hate them.
Maybe it’s just that Jets fans, rightly or wrongly, feel they have bigger fish to fry (pun intended) right now. Which raises the bigger issue – should we be overlooking the Dolphins? I mean, they did win the division last year…
Help me out here.

Honestly, who cares. If he was doing this with Brady it would be one thing, but a no name rookie…….we def have bigger fish to fry
LOL
Turner is a ****TY interview.
That was a spy…. fishy. I can’t wait to see Pennington running from Bart Scott !
Pdubbs:
Not sooo fast….Scott still has to get past OT Long.
The Fins??? Does anyone else remember CP having back-to-back injury free seasons? Yeah, for some reason everyone wants to pretend the Fish have a favorable position with Chad and the Wildcat. Can’t wait to see how he responds to our new Fist-First Defense and how the rest of the league responds to the one-year-wonder “WildFad”?
I sincerely hope the Jets aren’t overlooking anybody. I mean, we’re the Jets. Who exactly should we be overlooking? Maybe the Lions. Maybe.
I think jet fans are just a better class of people of course.I have high hopes for the jets but I dont think we should overlook anyone.Big fish or little.
Nope. Im not as close minded and pathetic as Dolphin fans.
Get a life.
we CANT/SHOULDNT overlook ANYONE in the LEAGUE let alone our DIVISION.
oh,and about the “interview”….who cares!?
i wouldn’t worry about the fins. we beat them with mangini’s team last year and rex completely dominated their wildcat in the playoffs. of coarse anyone can win a game. i just think that we have a way greater chance of winning Defense alone.
anyone “outraged” by this – regardless of team affiliation – is a moron
Maybe its the fact that they seem to be buddies? But really, i don’t think it’s inappropriate. Dolfans always have been fishy ;)
fonzie,
No, Bart Scott is an ILB and will likely line up as the RILB, over the left guard. When he blitzes, he will attack either the LG-C gap or the LG-LT gap. In either event, Jake Long has outside protection responsibilities, so he’ll be covering his outside shoulder to make sure either the ROLB or RDE doesn’t get a clear blind-side hit on Chad, who isn’t the exactly an ironman. If Scott plays the LILB position, then Scott won’t even be on his side. I think the Dolphins will be very concerned with inside blitzes, especially because Big Jenks can clear a big path up the middle and Harris and Scott are violent tacklers.
As for this video, only a Dolphins fan could get upset about something so trivial.
… Speaking of being outraged… anyone read Tim Grahams AFCEast mailbag?
“Garrett from New Jersey is incredulous ESPN.com listed the New York Jets at 20th in our recent power rankings. He asks “What do the Jets need to do before opening day to be considered a playoff contender?” He also can’t figure out how they could drop from last year’s final ranking of 17th.
Three spots isn’t exactly precipitous. Yes, the Jets added some weapons on defense, but they haven’t named a quarterback yet and haven’t replaced Laveranues Coles. As to the second issue raised, here’s what the Jets must do to be considered a playoff contender for a preseason poll: [B]Rent a time machine and dial it back to the Bill Parcells era. They were the third-best team in the division last year. If they play well, they’ll move up.[B]”
How many of you think this is out of place.. i Certainly do!
regardless of the fins…. ARE WE GOING TO GET A WR? this can honestly make or break our season. Were setting our Qbs up for failure with Marcus Henry being our tallest receiver who I dont think has even played? Everyone else is 6′1 6′0 max. At this point anyone will do… ill take Harrison regardless of height
They did play together on the same team….joining rivals isnt going to break a true friendship and its just for a commercial.
Yeah they played together in college, I think they are allowed to be friends, geeze fins fans got a complex maybe?
I think the need for a “tall” WR is one of the myths that is constantly repeated on this blog. Last season’s Super Bowl winner has Santonio Holmes (5-11) and Hines Ward (6-0). The Ravens have plenty of tall WRs on their roster, however the starters were both 5-10. The Dolphins switched from 6-1 Camarillo after his injury for 5-10 Davone Bess to match with 5-11 Ted Ginn. The Colts have Wayne and Gonzalez, both 6-0. The Titans and Chargers have some nice height at WR, especially the Chargers with Vincent Jackson (6-5) (and Gates (6-4)), but Chris Cambers is 5-11. IMO, it’s more important that the Jets have a bona fide deep threat to stretch defenses vertically rather than height. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love Fitz, Moss, Burress or Jackson; however, to say that an over 6-1 WR is necessary for NFL success is overstated, especially since good over 6-1 WRs are rare.
This is no big deal. Players fraternize in events like the pro bowl anyway. Plus things like this and commercials with players from different teams have been going on for years. Plus to think that they won’t be friends anymore because they now play on different teams is foolish. If it was Sanchez and say the hooded wonder from New England, maybe.
That’s really funny! I was reading that Tim Graham blog too and was thinking the EXACT SAME THING. Like, where does this guy get off saying that? What void did Coles leave? We loved Coles and all but seriously, there wasn’t really that much to replace. He was an average WR last year. There were literally 60+ guys in the league that could have replaced him at his spot and gotten the same production (imo). So I think that’s really NOT the issue here at all. In fact, I remember Tim saying it was a good decision for us to get rid of him, if I recall correctly. As for the Parcels era… how many Super Bowls did we win? Why would that be our time of glory? lol I read Tim every day but seriously, I think he’s way outta line with those comments. Would LOVE to see another thread on the blog for people to comment on his comments. :D
Oh, and how impolite of me: This was just a promo video and goofy. You can tell the guys were having some fun and all- nothing wrong with that. Ray Lewis talks to guys on the Steelers during the off season all the time lol
Exactly the response I was hoping for guys. What’s the big deal?
As for Graham’s blog, I’ll start a thread. Bear with me.
I don’t see a big deal at all. I think Dolphin fans are saying something because Sanchez is the big name star involved. If he was doing it with Chad or Brady, I could see some of us getting upset.
wait till chad runs away to cuba when we get in miami and chase him outta town.. then ppl will realize the fins were a fluke and aint that good
Chad always gets exposed when he is up against a big time defense in a big spot…always! He can only get a team so far, that is a fact. They still have to take down a Brady team to win this division. A rookie QB and a rookie HC, this team will be no better than 8-8. This schedule is just ridiculous.
it’s because dolphins fans fear the Jets
I could care less about shooting a commercial with another player, especially if they both went to the same school.
As for the Fish, the Wildcat was ineffective by the end of the season like all gimmick plays are. There’s a reason teams don’t run the Flea flicker every week. Teams now know what to expect of the formation and Ronnie Brown specifically as a player. Well every team except New England apparently. The Wildcat tends to confuse the “hooded wonder”.
Dolphans haven’t been right since we beat them 8 in a row.
IF any of you guys bothered to check the link to the article and read the fin fans comments they were pretty surprising.
While the article was obviously tongue in cheek many fin fans took it seriously. And the majority of those commenting seemed to actually BELIEVE in it! They really HATE the Jets.
Perhaps it’s our overall winning record against them. (Sadly, we can’t say that about many teams.) Perhaps it’s our recent domination. (Sadly, we can’t say that about our last game.)
I tend to think it’s the whole Miami as “NY South” thing. With so many former NYers in Miami they probably have to deal with Jet fans on a much more regular basis than fans of other teams.
Whatever the reason the enmity was palpable.
Personally, I save my hatred for the Pats. :)
If Turner wasn’t sucha garbage pick, maybe I’d mildly care. Hes a bad player.
fonzie
bart scott doesnt have to get past jake long, scott is a mlb, he will face the C and guards 90% of the time, and rarely ever see the tackles
Chatting with opposing teams is OKAY in the offseason ONLY. The moment the hall of fame game kicks off, Sanchez better not make eye contact with that guy until the Lombardi trophy is awarded.
LWsquad,
Youre right. the phins emptied their bag of wildcat tricks. there will be no element of surprise this time around.

StvDoe – The comments on the other link (about Vontae Davis turning up to sign autographs for kids at David Clowney’s camp) are just as funny, if not funnier.
What I love more than the fact that Sanchez is the star and getting interviewed by a Dolphin……. Isnt Turner like 6′5??
Sanchez sizes up well to him….. Is he standing on his tippy toes??
the Jets only have 1 good WR on the team and he is not even a #1 WR. The rest of the WR are maybe good enough to be a 3 or 4.
the bears and ravens always had great defenses but when you dont have any WR or a proven QB you arent going to put up many points
Man! it must kill these guys to have our sloppy seconds at QB.
Maybe they were talking about the Farve to Miami rumor…
