Channing Crowder As the New Jason Taylor?
Channing Crowder it seems is taking exception to the Jets and their newfound swagger. Crowder apparently had a lot to say, from talking about the Patriots, to expressing his frustration over
”People don’t look at us as a contender and don’t respect us like they should,” Crowder said. ”Guys were telling me how weak our schedule was, how we got lucky and won a lot of close games. . . . The Patriots say they’re the team to beat, but we’re AFC East champions.” Crowder said the Jets’ brashness is ”amazing to me.” Jets safety Kerry Rhodes said on Twitter that ”we will be the best defense in the league! I feel for the offenses we are gonna face.” Jets coach Rex Ryan also spoke boldly.
”They’re still talking junk, Rex Ryan saying they’re the toughest team in the NFL,” Crowder said. “They got a quarterback, but I don’t know how you add toughness with a quarterback [rookie Mark Sanchez]. If they want to be the OTA champions, they can have it. We whupped them last year.”
Sanchez posed in GQ ”talking on the phone,” Crowder said. ”That was very soft-ish.” Crowder said Rhodes ‘’should worry about his own [off-field] problems” — police are investigating a rape of a woman at Rhodes’ home, but Rhodes is not a suspect.

I hate the dolphins….no matter how bad things ever got with the pats i have always had more hatred towards the dolphins. Crowder saying that about kerry is just disrespectful, considering how all charges were dismissed. Also if you consider whupping splitting the series you should have higher goals. The dolphins should realize they are 12-27 in the last two years and with a real schedule this year i dont see that figure improving.
They whupped us? Winning 9 of the last 10 must not mean much to that neanderthal. The team they squeaked by last December is not the team they will see this season. I can’t wait for them to get a reality check.

Your schedule WAS weak. You DID get lucky and won a lot of close games (while the Jets and Pats lost a lot of close games)…The Patriots ARE still the team to beat.
Maybe our former coach LET you beat us in that last game because he didn’t want his old boss to make the playoffs and he knew what a pasting you’d take against the Ravens. (I don’t really believe that, but it still makes for a good comeback…either way, the Jets sleepwalked through that one and still almost won).
He can say what he wants. The fact he got so defensive about it suggests to me the Dolphins aren’t as comfortable as they’d like you to believe.
With all that said, I still prefer him to Taylor.
I hate the Dolphins, but Crowder is right. I hope the Jets are as good as their talk, but right now its an obnoxious amount of hot air.

Most winning teams get lucky, and win close games, that is the NFL. All of this stuff in June is for the writers to justify getting paid, inside the white lines is where the games are won and lost. If we had a Jet who said those things we would be saying how great it is to have confidence, Talk is cheap!
The entertainment factor is certainly ramped up in this division. It’s just a long way form week 1… this stuff is already getting a bit stale.

Bulletin board material. Talk is cheap, that is why, if you run your mouth you better be ready to back it up. Our additions on defense shoud add to an already strong group but, you never know, until the bullets are flying. If our defense is as good as they think — this should be a fun season.

Obviously you should know that New York fans are arguably the smartest in the country. You say that the Sanchez deal was a joke, well given Florida’s track record for education and government procedure your comment is very out of character. You’re praising Aaron Maybin. The top pass rushers weren’t impressive. I believe the guy with the best upside (surprising) is Connor Barwin, 2nd round out of Cinncinati; one of the most versatile player in the draft. He can line up on either side and be equally effective. He can also play TE. What do you have to lose with someone like that ? Maybin is a one move up the field one-gap 3-4 outside linebacker, nothing more. Just a pass rushing specialist at most. He’s not going to hold up against the run.
Rex Ryan and those guys can slaughter the Dolphins even without a veteran QB, remember? The fact that the JETS are even more familiar with the dolphins, they should be concerned; we did mess them up in the first game.
I firmly believe the Fins are a 6 win team this year. Pennington will be benched for Chad Henne who will play fair. They really aren’t that talented of a team. Have fun drafting at spot 9 or 10 in 2010.

the way the Jets were playing at the end there, it did not take much to beat them, there is not much to be proud of. i was happy to see Chad there instead of Brady but the Pats are alot better than the Phins and hoping the Jets will be there also this year.

Even with Favre’s brain fart gift pick 6 before half-time, the Jets had a lead in the 3rd quarter of a meaningless game for them, but a must-win game for the Fins. Let’s just say that Rex’s team will have a bit more defensive intensity.
I actually like all the trash talk. The AFC has been pretty boring with pretty boy Brady and BB dominating the division with only the Jets as a realistic rival. Maybe the AFC East will become as interesting and full of bad blood as the NFC East.
I hate the dolphins so much. They think after one winning season they are the best. Remember the beat a broken down old man while the jets were arguably the worst team in the league to end the season. They barely beat us. Favre handed them the game. I have so much respect for chad but I cant wait to see him blindsided with 3 seconds of the snap over and over again against the Jets this year.

I also don’t agree that we gave up too much for Sanchez. a 3rd string QB, a 2nd string safety and a non impact DE plus a first and second rounder is a really good deal for a potential franchise QB. We still have all our picks for next year.
I follow the Dolphins pretty closely. Division foe and all that. I think their secondary is improved, but I think you guys should be a little more humble considering you did have a lot of things go your way last year and that Baltimore absolutly raped you in the first round. Btw the guys that drew up that defense are our head coach and D Coordinator.

Hutch, a part of being the smartest fans is knowing talent, even on your opponent, for cases of free agency etc. The fact that someone is trying @#$% on the Mark Sanchez acquisition and talking about Maybin being some sought of revelation for the Bills is absurd; Maybin should be a late first run or early second round, if it weren’t for low talent pool at DE. To be a good foe one needs to know their opponent man.
By the way Hutch, historically your Dolphins regime stinks at talent evaluate. Before the Bill Parcells era, what high pick you guys had actually dis something. I can see why Maybin was brought up; they could use interior help. Peria Jerry out of Ole Miss or Roy Miller out of Texas would have been great choices opposite Marcus Stroud. That would have given them more picks, then get someone like Barwin in the second round. First round past rushers haven ‘t been blazing lately.

Where do I start? Both sides need a Phonics book while they are thinking up insults. Jets fans are right about giving us fits for quite some time. I usually blamed Pennington for only showing up to beat us. Theat 30-some point comeback was tough to watch.
Here’s my take; the Jets better hope they have a defens like the Ravens (minus, Reed, Lewis, Suggs, etc.) cuz their offense is very shallow at this point. I’m confident my Iowa boy Shonn Green will get his chance early on your roster. Pray the injury bug doesn’t bite you guys.
Miami has a lot more depth and will be able to take advantage of your inexperienced offense at QB, WR, and your spotty OL.
Positional breakdown:
QB; Miami
RB: Miami has depth over Jets
WR: niether of us have room to talk, but we catch the ball
TE: Fasano all the way (more of an opinion)
OL: if we are healthy, Miami wins
DL: Very even, we take the ends and Jets edge the middle
LB: up for grabs, I like our outsides better now.
CB: Jets have it until we show we can defend the pass better
S: Toss up.
Good luck to both sides. I hope Jets drop ‘em both to us so we get that ground back. Pats had better feel a bit uncomfortable that The East isn’t lying down anymore.
