What in tranation do you mean if we can afford him. He doesn’t have much leverage there, but it shoud be managable. There’s going to be lauses and incentives. Could be one year deal, then if that’s the case I hope Plaxico has RFA status; cash this chip with some other team. I don’t know if alll goes well whether they would want to lock him down.

I know his marketability has taken a hit… hell, he shot himself in the leg and got dumped by Giants. Yet, that’s partly my concern.
Players don’t like NY beacuse we have low property taxes, they know it’s a big market and they can cash in with endorsements. Unless; of course, on shoots himself in the leg or drowns a dog. Then you go wherever the biggest contract lands.
That said. I can’t see a guy like Plaxico cold chillin’ in Buffalo like another villian – TO. I assume he’s already got a place in Manhattan and Jets have a great big hole to fill.
Still, we’re not the only gentlemen callers. I hear Tampa Bay is pretty nice too.
I really, really hope we can get him!

Well our changes of getting Plax are good. I mean wouldnt his probation officer be in NYC? So I guess it would be best for him to stay in the area.
Actually TO is an idiot, and if he was smart he would have waited until May to sign with a team. Since there are a handful of teams that are thin at receiver, he could have gotten a better deal. Also Tampa Bay has a #1 receiver and he is their franchise “tagged” player.

Bent says: LeSean – Hopefully they should be able to afford him, but who knows if they still have some of that money earmarked to advance money to existing players to reduce their now much heavier 2010 cap burden (of course they will need to decide whether to do this in view of the unknown cap situation, but Jason from the cap site was guessing they would want to err on the side of caution when we last spoke about this).
Also, an incentivized deal is not as easy as in the past because you have to fit the whole thing under the cap (including the incentives and escalators) due to the special rules because it’s the last capped year of the current CBA.
So, it may not be as easy as you think, but hopefully – if that’s the direction they decide to go – they can do it without shooting themselves in the foot with regard to the 2010 cap (pun not intended). I’d also agree that a one year deal seems most likely.

But, you could look at this as “take the money and run” scenario.you got this kid who has great intangibles, showing all the right stuff when it comes to working hard and being a leader, but only really had 16 starts in an extremely week QB class.
Theres still a very good chance this kid goes belly up and is a bust for us…
