Buzz: Vick… to Pats?
Mike Florio and PFT are at it again — this time, there’s a rumor “floating around” that the New England Patriots and Michael Vick may just be a compatible pairing.
Previously, we’d brushed off such speculation, since we believe (and we’ve been told) that Vick will be looking for a place where he can compete for the starting quarterback job.
In New England, that wouldn’t be happening — barring another Tom Brady ACL eruption.
But we’re now hearing that there could be something to the chatter, primarily since it’s appearing more and more likely that Vick won’t have many/any options to compete for the every-down quarterback job in 2009.
Under those circumstances, sending Vick to New England for a year could help Vick position himself to become an attractive candidate for another team in 2010.
A bit of rumor mongering — of which we’ll get plenty with Vick a free agent — but still something to not TOTALLY dismiss. As if you needed more reason to hate New England.

dumb, made up rumor!
but it can also be a good thing, the media will be all over the pats signing vick, and maybe burress can go a little under the radar and sign with the jets.
Well I’m pretty sure Vick knows he can’t just take the Starting spot, but I’m sure he would want to go where it would be a lot easier to get than the Pats, I’m just saying that Vick knows he will most likely be a sub if he goes to a team and play a role in the wildcat, but I think he wants to start, so he would most likely want a team with QB problems so he can take over in like week, which is about the time, he will be ready.
Teams like
Bills
Broncos
49ers
Jags
Rams
Vikings, depends on Favre
Bucs
Awesome I hope he does go to NE that way I can see him wants a year and degrade him as he walks out of the tunnel…
NE would get yet another 1st or second rounder for him in 2010 he would be a specialist and spell brady
New England Wildcat Formation with Vick at the helm.
exactly
I’d much rather see NE in wildcat formation with Vick than NE in any other formation with Brady. I don’t see this coming true at all. This is just offseason rumor-mongering.
NE’s got the best QB in the world throwing to the best receiver on the planet (Moss), best 3rd down receiver in the league (Welker) under the direction of *vomit in my mouth* best coach in the league. Why on God’s green earth would you want to bring in another distraction at the same position to take snaps away from Brady? So 1 series/game the PETA people can hold their signs up? If you’re bringing him in as a running back (which I doubt Vick would accept) I guess that’s fine — but I’d say in general, the less the ball is in Brady’s hands, the worse off the Patriots are.
This will never occur. I understand you guys want to report exciting stuff – but Billy B up there is never going to sign off on a QB who would be booed off the field at home games by Pats fans.
I hope Vick gets another shot in the NFL, everyone deserves a second chance, he paid his debts.
If this were to happen, I’d be concerned RV might be able to hurt us with NE. So let him go to another team.

A total nonsense rumor.
There will be two or three teams who will give Vick a shot at first string QB. A few more who will take him as a backup.
Last thing on earth Robt. Kraft wants Belichick to convice him of is to oversee another bad apple reclamation project. Whatever happened to this team of “character first?” Put your foot down, Bob!
