He and Burress both have off the field issues, but Marshall is likely to have more longevity. I don't like the distraction and Marshall's criminal issues, but he could make a substantial impact on the field. First, the Jets need to make Leon happy, then they should go after Marshall.

Acquiring Brandon Marshall for the Jets, there are going to be pros and cons. I believe that if he leaves Denver then maybe he won't be getting into all that trouble and what not that he has been getting into if he comes to NY to play for the Jets. He is an absolute animal on the field, but his past is what might push people away but I highly doubt it is enough to make a team not go out and make an attempt to go get him. As long as he is putting up numbers on the field, catching passes, running clean routes, blocking etc; doing what they ask of him. You know not causing problems in the locker room I don't see why you wouldn't get him. The Jets are searching for a WR, since we just let Coles go, but i for one really like Clowney and Stuckey, i'm hopin that they will have a little more of an impact this season also. We have 3 solid running backs, and amazing O-line and i believe two smart quarterbacks depending on who plays, all we gotta do is manage the game on offense and play good D and we have a great defense. So it would be nice if the Jets traded for Marshall but if we don't i know we'll be fine.

Wideouts in the NFL are off their freakin rockers. Here is just a list of number 1's who have issues
1 Randy Moss blazed alot in college, the walking off the field in Green Bay, quit on the Raiders
2 T.O- i dont even have time
3 Steve Smith- broke his teamates face in practice
4 B Marshall- his pimp hand in strong
5 Plax- shot himself in the leg
6 Ocho Cinco- Been kicked out of more meetings than my alcoholic uncle Sal
* Matt Jones loves the Columbian party powder, Chris Henry's got more arrests than colleges I've attented and Donte Stallworth just killed some poor guy

Point is, its really hard to find elite recievers who dont have some kind of past. I think the only thing the Jets can do is evaluate it on a case by case basis and be really strict with the contract. If you do this, you dont get this and so on. I dont know what kind of package it would take to get a guy like Marshall, but even if its alot it would be a smart move to get a guy you just drafted to be your franchise QB and wideout who can go for 100 recs., 1500 and 10 TD's

Will Plax play? Will he be suspended for the 1st 2 games? 4? 3? Will he go to trial before the season is over? Will he plea in september? Will he screw up again before the end of the season? Does he have any remorse about what he cost the giants? Peirce put his career on the line for Plax? How did Plax respond? Where's the crew love?

Will Marshall beat up another women? Will he pull a Ray Carruth? How many times will he go to jail this season? What stupid thing will his anger cause him to do next? Will he assault one of his teammates that piss him off? SInce he likes to beat up his wife, throw rocks, intimidate women, what other lines will he cross?

Will Matt Jones relapse if he's given another opportunity and has gotten through rehab? Had he already gotten through rehab as his next arrest was for drinking beer on probation, not copke related? Is he even an addict at all? Don't most athletes do coke? What is this Sesame street? Who are we kidding?

I'll give Cotch more polish. Jones is a better pure athlete and has better measurables. He's taken longer to develop because of the transition. Cotch numbers are a little better last season.

I agree Jones has potential but right now he isn't nearly as good as Plax or Marshall. Jones could very well be the best move for the Jets, but it is fair to say that he is a much bigger risk (on the field) than the other receivers. All three of them have very different issues off the field which I don't really know enough about to argue.

Jones had 5 drops in 12 games last year. That is among the leagues most, but it really isnt that big a deal at all. Brandon Marshall had 12 drops in 15 games which is much worse, and Coles had 8 in 16. I agree that the drops arent a big deal.

That said, Matt Jones is not as good as Cotchery at this point in his career. Jones has never had 800 receiving yards and Cotchery has done it 3 times. I know MJ was on pace for about 1000 last year, but there is no guarantee he would have. Matt Jones DOES have much more potential than Cotchery though with his 6'6" height and 4'3" speed.

Like I said, I would be happy with Matt Jones as a Jet, but right now he is not nearly as proven on the field as Brandon Marshall or Plaxico Burress. He is definitely low risk, high reward and could become a true #1 receiver for the Jets. I would be thrilled with Marshall, Plax, or MJ in green and white.

NYJ, of course you feel that way. I'm guessing you're not a woman.

BEATING UP PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, IS WORSE THAN DOING DRUGS!!! The guy's a 6'4 200something pound athlete and he's standing outside having a fistfight with his fiance? lol. This is the kind of attitude you want to bring to this team? Come on guys, stand up for something.

Btw, for the Jets it doesn't have to be a star player, it just has to be a player that's ready to bloom. ;-)

Matt Jones is not nearly as good as cotch. He may have better physical attributes but the guy is not polished and will never become polished. It would be great to add a receiver but matt jones is not the answer.
