Film Room: JeeHuuuuuuuu!!

Here’s a great clip we’ve posted before of current Jet and former MSU back Jehuu Caulcrick ripping through the heart of Notre Dame back in 2006.

  1. are we going to use this guy as a RB or FB and i feel Shonn Greene is a better version of him bowling people over etc…

  2. The older you get, the more you notice how the NFL game has changed. One of the staples of most 70s/80s teams was the fullback dive. For some reason, the fullback dive is just not part of NFL offenses any more. LaRon McClain brought it back last year for the Ravens and maybe Caulcrick can bring it back for the Jets. The Jets OL strength is up the middle; exploit it.

  3. Unrelated, but Big Jenks makes ESPN.com’s premature All-Decade team at DT:

  4. Two guys I absolutely fell in love with from the draft last year 1) Lowery and 2) Jehuu. He is very mature, committed, intelligent dude, and absolutely a beast. Maybe twice as powerful as Green. but quicker AND can also run outside. He will be our version of Brandon Jacobs. I really hope he gets a chance to show what he brings.

  5. Who is this guy and how do we get him on the field? Great vision and great power/speed combo.

  6. Jehuu run 4.41 in the 40 at the combine i think. Green 4.6. I don’t know why if they are so similar that they are both on the team but maybe Caulcrick didn’t impress Tanny and Rex?

He certainly is fun to watch when he gets moving though.

  7. Like sackdance said- Leron Mclain was used heavily by baltimores- he was their leading rusher last year. McClain and Jehuu are both considered Fullback in the NFL. Both around 6′1″ and 255lbs. I hope Rex brings the same style to the JETS and uses Jehuu. If we want to be a power running team than both Jehuu and Greene should be running the ball often. TJ isnt a true power runner, he is a mix of decent power and decent speed but not great at either.

  8. Anyone who reads my posts knows that I love Jehuu. Not only can he run with power but, he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He will be our FB of the future. As I have stated before, I can’t wait to see Jehuu and Shonn, this pre-season. It is going to be very hard to stop us, down by the goal line, this year. Check out how many TD’s Jehuu and Shonn put up, in their last years of college ball. I love the power game.

  9. 4.41? Try 4.70 that is why he is a FB

  10. nice but can you find some of Danny Woodhead. he seems to be more impressive in camps

  11. The two aren’t similar at all really. Caulcrick is 20 pounds heavier. He will be a fullback, but as Sack says, they might be able to make use of his ball-carrying skills too.

  12. go irish

    and jehuu

  13. Bent:

Green and Jehuu are similar but I feel Jehuu is stronger, quicker and can run to the outside. Plus knowing Jehuu’s background he maybe hungrier. This appears as the same situation as drafting Franchez while never giving our three Amigos (Clemens, Ainge and Rattlif) a real look

Runs 4.41 in the 40. Maybe NFL.com is wrong?

  15. I meant their styles are similar, as in N/S, bruiser types, but I think Jehuu is definitely more of an imposing presence. Either way I’d like to see them taking on DBs all game. After 1Q the DBs will be sick of hitting them.

I am in favor of them both being here. They have tremendous upside, give us depth hopefully at the RB position, can replace T RIch when he’s gone.

  16. Looking at J. Caulcrick and the rest of the Jets RBs in 2009:

  17. Looking forward to seeing him in the preseason, I always felt he could contribute, so I hope he does well enough to warrant some short yardage touches.. But who better for a guy with his skill set to learn from than our current FullBack TRich!

  18. RKNYC – Jehuu ran a 4.41 in highschool, when he was probably 200 pounds. Since he bulked up to 255, his speed has reduced, as you would expect and he ran 4.70 at the combine, which is pretty good for a guy that size.

NFL.com isn’t flawless, anyway. Last year, their combine coverage had two DBs listed as 6′9″ and also a defensive tackle ran a 3.80 forty!

I hope to see him in action soon too!

  19. Fonz,

Just to clarify, Lowery was a low draft pick, but Jehuu was an UDFA and sat on the practice squad last year.

I love this clip vs. ND, though. What a moose, running through college guys. It’s a bit harder when NFL guys are closer to your size. But, still great power. I think he’s ahead of Woodhead (heading to practice squad?) since he can spell Tony R. to give Tony a breather and extend his career all that much more, then be ready to step in when Tony retires.

  20. Ha, Jehuu Caulrick, yet another reason that we didn’t have to throw so many picks at Shonne Green.
