Rhodes & Cotchery Talk Football
Jerricho Cotchery and Kerry Rhodes talk with a local reporter on film back home at Cotchery’s camp in Alabama over the weekend.
Rhodes talks first and here’s some quotes from him on a variety of topics, here’s some quotes.
Rhodes on Brett Favre Playing in NYC: “The fanfare he brought with him and the media attention we got as a team was all good for us, we ended up having the most players in the Pro Bowl because of that … I mean, to be honest … that’s the real reason.”
Rhodes on Prediction of Being the Best Defense: “I still stick by that statement, just seeing the work we’ve put in, in these OTAs and mandatory mini-camps, we’re far ahead of where we’ve been before and the additions that we’ve added to the defense in Bart and Jim and Marques and all those guys. If we play the way we can play on defense, I don’t think there’s going to be a better defense than us.”
Cotchery on QB Battle: “I know I have two really good Quarterbacks right now, so I’m very happy with that.”
Cotchery on Sanchez: “Sanchez is the full package … he’s the full package and that’s why he was drafted so high. He’s got a lot of potnetial to be a great quarterback in the NFL He works hard, he studies hard, so I think he’s going to be able to get the most out of his talent.”
As far as the statement on the Pro Bowlers? As we’ve always said, the Pro Bowl is nothing more than a prom queen contest. I do agree that Favre’s presence brought more media attention, more hype, more excitement and thus more votes, but the 8-3 start, the beating of both the Patriots and the then undefeated Titans didn’t hurt when Pro Bowl voting was winding down. The Jets were looking unbeatable and that was what allowed for seven Pro Bowlers.

See Favre wasn’t all that bad!
Ugh! Would the season start all ready? I hate to wish my life away, but I’m starving for some football.
Jets-Fan-4-Life,
Are you still in love with FARVE? Your mancrush on him will never leave.
Hey fonzie, you might be right, but the man crush has nothing to due with how Favre played last year or his 18 year nostalgia.
It’s more along the line of my little 4 year old just watched a full year of Jets football for the first time with her daddy, and Favre was an easy name for her to associate with the Jets and for her to root for.
So you see it’s not all that bad when you see it from a 4 year olds view point (even if it’s a little misguided).
Fortunately, she knows he is retired, and by luck she recently met Leon and Sanchez. So now she has someone else to root for…. but every now and then I still hear her yell Go Brett Favre, Go Jets….J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets! and even “Hey Daddy” The greatest Jets quarterback ever is #12 Joe Namath!
I’m so proud of her!
