Wesley and I lived next door to each other when he lived in Carson, ca. (Scottsdale Townhomes) We played ball together when we were kids and I was always amazed at his speed. He was also a great baseball player and I still have the scar on my foot where he cleated me as I was picked off at first base. (Hey, Wes, if you read this, remember Normandale Park)? But, he was a good guy with a good family. I read about all his injuries on another site...my heart goes out to you, Wesley.

I never got see him in his playing days, but I did get to be with him during my high school years. He was my PE teacher at Kings Park High School and was a student favorite. You never would have known he was in the NFL just off his actions. He was always laughing and genuine with all the students. And I still can't believe he had all this success while legally blind in one eye. Just talking to him in person and being aware of his lazy eye, its incredible to think he was very successful NFL receiver.

He currently is a PE teacher at Park View Elementary and works alongside my mother, and she always says all the kids love gym class because of him and his personality.

I grew up watching Wesley Walker. By far, the greatest Jet WR over a career. My 2nd favorite all time player next to Klecko(who should 100% be in the NFL HOF)What a stud! I was in college when he caught the 4TDs vs Miami in the 51-45 classic. My close buddies were Fish fans & despised the Jets & talked so much smack about WW. The next day, the newspaper headlines were "Wesley erases doubts" I had my bragging rights for weeks.

Wesley was one of my favorite all-time Jets. His talent was amazing, he always acted as a professional, and the fact that he couldn't see out of one eye made him even greater in my eyes.

I'd like to touch on NYC's comment. A co-worker of mine knows Wesley, and sees him from time to time. I understand that he's a PE teacher somewhere on the Island. The sad part is that Wesley is in a lot of pain these days, a lasting reminder of the toll the NFL takes on a body. It's also greatly affected his mood, and he has good days and pretty bad days. The way the NFL has abandoned it's old veterans is one of the lasting black marks on what is arguably the greatest game being played today. It makes me sad that the league and players can't come together and help these guys.

Wesley, if you read this, you were one of my heroes, and you taught me a lot about how to play the game. I wish you nothing but good and better days.

Great pick.

While we've mostly had lousy teams and a slew of rotten coaches, it's astonishing to me how many truly great players we've had over the years.

Wesley certainly ranks high among that group. His teaming with Toon was a thing of beauty.

Congrats, Wesley!

Hands down (sorry Maynard) the best Jets WR of all time.

I read the story about his life today as a gym teacher on LI.
His story reflects why the league needs to address the compensation retired NFL players deserve.

The Jets have had some great receivers, over the years but, none better than Walker at getting open deep. If you were around for Namath, you were groomed on the bomb. No one was better at getting open deep than Wesley. His torching of Miami was a thing of beauty that I will never forget. Let's hope Clowney becomes that deep threat, this season.
