Is Favre on the list?
Pennington at 13? Laughable!!!!!!!!!!! he WAS a bit overrated but i would put him waaaaaaaaaaay down the list. Comabacl player candidate in 06 and 08. People are just plain HATING on Chad.

Vinny:
They’re saying Chad was underrated, which i agree with.. When he was in there during those Herm years, and in 06, he was the Jets’ best chance…
He is better than people give him credit for..I don’t understand Woody being overrated… didn’t realize there was a ton of hype behind him…. maybe it’s because of the huge contract he got last year?
-
Woody might be over paid, but nobody credits him for being any good.
Vinny, I’m trying to figure out what you mean, you think he was or wasn’t over rated. Did the same person start and finish that post?
-
Woody is good, just not great. I never thought he was over hyped, so I don’t know why he is on the list.

Last year, before Farve, 90 % of all Jet fans were down on Pennington and demamding the FO to get rid of him !! This year, he will have the FIRST chance of his Pro carrer to put back to back healthy seasons NOT comming back from some sort of rehab.
He will prove to all Pennington doubters/bashers (TannWoody) he IS one of the best, if not the best, QB on the field this year. He will outperform Brady and Payton !!
-
Wow, hank/naples taking the Chad love to new heights!! Better than Brady or (Its Peyton by the way, not Payton)!! Proving once again their is no end to your delusion.
To recap, 90% of all Jet fans were not down on Pennington, the majority of us were realists, knew what we had in Chad, a solid player with a diminished arm, a tremendous leader with outstanding drive to succeed and overcome as evidenced by his comeback from 2 season ending shoulder surgeries (hence the diminished arm). We also realized that there was a limit to where Chad could take us, a winning season, maybe a wild card or first round win on a decent team with a good defense and a solid ground attack. We also knew that if we had to rely on him to win the game for us with his arm we would ultimately fail (see Dolphins vs. Baltimore from January 2009).
This does not make us haters, or bashers, just honest fans, doubters? Ok, I’ll give you that one, because I seriously doubt Chad can lead a team to the promised land (Superbowl win) with his arm. His head and his heart I will never question. Doesn’t mean I don’t respect him, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate what he did for my team while he was here, just means I see him for what he actually is, not what I wish he could be.

Always good when the two underrated guys were on your team and you got rid of them. And the overrated players just played last year, including one signing a big contract.
-
I wish the team never switched to a 4-3 after parcells. If everyone remembers Abraham was drafted to be a 3-4 outside rusher and Ellis a 3-4 end. I think if Abraham stayed at 255 instead of beefing up to 275 and playing Defensive end he would have been hurt less and been even more productive.
He made as big a difference to the defense as Jenkins did last year.

well said, sec108. Sometimes hank/naples sounds like fonzie with his mad love of Chad, but you conveyed my sentiments exactly. Now I just wish A-Rod could/would be “accepted” in the same way…”….see him for what he actually is, not what [we] wish he could be.”

John Abraham’s value was never underrated during those rare periods when he stayed on the field. When he took a pass in the playoffs, that about did it for him and the Jets and the fans.
-
I’ll move down John Abraham and move up Ty law. I haven’t paid attention to Woody before; it’s quite hard to call offensive linemen overrrated since many can play multiple roles. Woody started off as a centre, picked in the first round. I believe he played some guard before as well. If that’s overrated then makes most drafted OL garbage.
John Abraham is a glassjaw. He doesn’t like contact and can get blown off; best as down pass rushing 4-3 end.
As for Ty law I don’t know what they were on when they came to this conclusion. Nobody was saying that before he had the surgery. The season after he had 10 INTs I believe. This is stupid.
Chad Pennington was the only solid thin we had in a long while. I’m not throwing him under the bus. There’s so many first round QB’s that he had a better career than. Completion percentage, etc. -
John Abraham is like Simeon Rice. If he’s not have a good day, don’t expect anything else.
-
oops i thought they meant chad was overrated. His contract and production while on the Jets (stats-wise) were not on the same level. But, his leadership and professionalism were exceptional. I guess it can go either way, but his year last year, oooohhh I was biting my lip at the end of the last game.
So, WAS Favre on the overrated list?
-
Ty Law SUCKS. By the way. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated after a few decent years with the pats. Wait and see, Ellis Hobbs is another one.
-
John Abraham UNDERrated? please. He punked out of playing in the divisional playoffs in 2004, that is a HUGE downer. A stigma that should follow him his whole career. If you can go in the playoffs, YOU GO.
-
I agree with both Abraham and Pennington. Abraham is underated because people overlook his production and focus on the injuries. The fact is, when Abraham is on the field, he is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. That is why he is underated. If the Jets had Abraham playing OLB, our defense would be a lock to finish top 5

Abraham underrated? Really? Staying healthy is still an important part of being an NFL player, right?
