Although it’s true that the Jets could use another wideout, don’t expect Brandon Marshall to come available any time soon, according to ESPN’s Bill Williamson of the AFC West Blog.

I talked to some people close to the situation Monday, and they said the Broncos will maintain their stance of keeping Marshall. The team still expects Marshall to show up for training camp.

The team still has no plans to trade Marshall … [and] … know they hold all the cards. If Marshall doesn’t show up in 2009, he won’t be paid. A prospective free agent in 2010, there is little chance Marshall will risk missing an entire season.

So, as I predicted, the Broncos are not letting the inmates run the asylum a second time. They do have more leverage in this case, and clearly the team isn’t up against a master media manipulating agent like Bus Cook either.

Williamson does go on to say that the team would never say never, but that basically it would take a first rounder and another pick to get the deal done. Marshall is a decent player, but the asking price is too high.
