Pete57:

If you are right and the Jets finish 9-7, does it not prove my point?
We are going to have the same record as last year. A team with a HC that was fired due to incompetentce.

This years team and this years Manager is supposedly lightyears ahead of last year. What gives?

Fonzie, I think the Jets could win as many as 12 games, and as few as 7. If I had to pick a record I would say 9-7.

Pete57,

I truly think that the front office made a huge mistake by addressing just the offense in this year's draft without addressing the important players in house on the team first. I am a firm believer that you take care of your own first. This picks at the time were not even signed. I would have liked to see the jets address the OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE TRENCHES BEFORE ADDRESSING QUARTERBACK AND RUNNINGBACK!!! Those positions were already stacked before the draft. You like the rest of the jets front runners wanted more; something exciting and new. So you were in favor of the GOLDEN BOY and college running back pickup. Well, right now there are tough times (pun intended) and there really isn't any room for failure on this team. The JETS are primed to win NOW!!!! You know this and everyone else knows this.

Reading this post...Fonzie, you seem to really be missing a lot of what was done this off season. You say they haven't done certain things but most of what you say is actually arguable. If you didn't know Leonhard also does kick and punt returns. If it's about speed they have some other players on the team with some speed. They also signed Larry Izzo pretty much exlusively for what he could bring to special teams. You say that he is not demonstrating any consistancy is ridiculous as the demonstration comes after they have actually played games not just OTAs. Hell, Schottenheimer is still the brains behind what will be the offense of this team and most of these players with a few exceptions have been under his guideance for a while now and should be very much up to speed as they have consistantly been in his systems. What is there about maybe 5 offensive players on this team that are getting their first experience in Schott's system and maybe 1 of those might be a starter? I'm no rocket scientist but if one of those young WRs steps up and produces it should not surprise anyone since they have been in the system for more than a season now. The Jets don't do community involvement? To be perfectly honest if you have a computer you can look on the team page and see all of the community involvement they have as a team. http://www.newyorkjets.com/community/article/show/3001-rex-players-bring-jerseys-to-this-part-of-jersey

As far as the TE and the WR situation it's still a wait and see. Everything can't be fixed over night but by bringing Bubba Franks back I say they are working on the TE situation and as far as the WR situation goes some of us assume we don't have the replacement for Coles but as far as I am concerned we may already have that player. We may have some talent that couldn't get on the field because of tenure. It really is difficult to respond to guys like you Fonzie (and Hank) because you sound more like fans of another team. You shouldn't be here the way you talk. What this coach has done in my opinion is express confidence in his team and to me that is the greatest thing he could have done for this highly talented team. Blaming Rex Ryan for the hostility you receive going into a division rivals stadium is one of sthe stupidest things I've ever heard. Lets break it down. Well before Rex Ryan took over as head coach of the Jets the Jets own some crazy record of wins over the Dolphins...I don't remember the specific number but I think it might be the Phins have only beat the Jets about 2 times in about the last decade (again my number may be off) but I believe one of the times was when Ricky Williams first signed with them and the other was last season with Pennington playing his second time against the Jets. What that works out to is thePhins fans hate you weather Rex Ryan kisses their butts or not. Beleive in this team cause I think most of us here do and with time they will hopefully give us what we Jets fans want...a championship.

Thirdly, I have a question: What will your reaction be if Ryan turns out to be a great coach, and eventually wins a SB with the Jets? You give the impression that you would not be happy, and try to explain how they won it in spite of Ryan, instead of being ecstatic and celebrating the great achievement like a Jet fan should.
And in anticipation of your question: If Ryan turns out to be bad, I will call for him to be fired, just like I did with Mangini.

Also Fonzie, if you don't like the offensive and special teams moves, please tell us what you would've liked to see them do in those areas.

It's very easy to criticize, but in order for it to have any bite, you need to provide some alternatives to what they have done.

Fonzie, I think the team is doing alot to address all three areas. We can't get every piece of the puzzle immediately.

For offense we drafted TJ's replacement in Shonn Green. Very substantial. And we also drafted a franchise QB, even bigger. Also, we drafted an offensive lineman. Three draft picks, all for offense. We haven't seriously addressed the blocking TE, but I will bet that they will before the season begins. Just as an example, NE has extra blocking TE's and they won't carry them all. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Baker ends up back on the Jets.

Special teams was in pretty good shape already and they added Larry Izzo, a special teams ace. Coming off injury, Danny Woodhead should also be a nice addition.

The additions to defense you already admit are significant. So, what am I missing?
